Description

The Department for Medicaid Services (DMS) provides health care access for eligible low-income residents of Kentucky including children, families, pregnant women, the aged and the disabled as well as a number of programs and services directed at specific eligibility and medical needs. Responsibilities And Duties

  • Under general direction, supervises programming, analysis and/or technical support personnel. Directs and facilitates the development and implementation of computer programs and systems, software packages or data base structures; and performs other duties as required.
  • Plans, assigns, and supervises the daily operational actives for the Data Management Branch. Assist the Branch Manager on daily operational activities and managing multiple projects.
  • Manages the employees and activates of the Data Management Branch. Provides supports on large-scale Medicaid projects. Project and Vendor Management.
  • Services as a technical resource for business analysts, vendors, and policy advisors. Monitor projects deliverables and timelines.
  • Works with users in the development, implementation, and maintenance of computer systems. Reviews the work of analysts before implementation.
  • Prepare and monitor status reports on the activities of the branch.
  • Contributes to the creation of and conducts reviews of request for information, request for proposals, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of professional experience in computer programming, systems analysis, systems support, or computer operating systems.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Related technical or vocational training will substitute for the bachelor’s degree requirement on a year for year basis. A master’s degree in computer science will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in computer programming, systems analysis, and/or computer operations will substitute for the bachelor’s degree requirement on a year for year basis. Experience in business or public administration, statistics, research, or a related field will substitute for the bachelor’s degree requirement on a year for year basis.

Incumbents working in this job title typically perform duties in an office setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
