PURPOSE
Exponential Power offers a complete line of Power system components to utilities, industrial companies, renewable energy companies, data centers, Casinos, Hospitals, and telecom companies. Our products include emergency standby power batteries, chargers, 24 and -48V DC power systems, converters, inverters, UPS systems, BESS, ESS and ancillary items.
We offer complete turnkey solutions to our customers to include installation, testing and maintenance services.
The position of Inside Technical Sales Engineer requires an energetic, self-motivated individual who excels at customer solution selling and has a strong desire to succeed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Preferred College Degree from an accredited institution or technical field/Sales experience
EXPERIENCE:
- 3+ years in technical sales. Battery, Charger and UPS product and service sales knowledge is preferred but not required.
- Participation in CRM, reporting, forecasting and budgeting.
- Knowledge of industry customers (i.e. end users, engineering firms, etc.) is a PLUS.
- Electrical power equipment and previous demonstrated sales experience in a technical sales role is desired however not required.
- Excellent organizational, negotiation and communications skills with an acute attention to detail.
- The ability to close sales and meet or exceed quarterly sales targets.
- Selling on value and not price.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:
- Computer Software: Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Industry standards (UL, CSA, ISO). CRM software.
BUSINESS UNDERSTANDING:
- Various products and services offered, applications where our products are used and the sales channels/market
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
- Maintain established accounts by making sales calls and providing superb customer service in pursuit of additional sales.
- Consult with existing customers and new prospects to determine their needs and build strong relationships.
- Develop a sales strategy to penetrate new markets within an assigned territory and convey to customers and prospects an understanding of company product offerings.
- Communicate effectively with upper management, team members and cross departmentally to support company accounts.
- Reporting sales pipeline management via CRM.
- Working as a team player with Application Engineers and others across the company for the benefit of our company and the customer’s needs.
- Meeting/Exceeding assigned and personal sales goals/targets.
Close business.
ACCOUNT MAINTENANCE/GROWTH
- Meet the daily goal of outbound calls and emails.
- Prospecting/validating new leads.
- Maximize sales opportunities within all accounts.
FORECASTING/ REPORTING
- Gather and interpret data in order to forecast future orders and shipments on a three-month rolling forecast model as well as weekly reporting. Provide sales contact reports on all customer and sales contacts or prospects
- Yearly budget development
TECHNICAL / SALES SUPPORT
- Provide technical support to customers in order to ensure customer satisfaction and increase repeat sales
- Provide Sales Information to team members and management team.
COST
- Estimate and track costs for sales/service in order to ensure that the business with any particular customer achieves target margins
TEAM PARTICIPATION
- Weekly participation with Sales and Service Team meetings.
- Quarterly meetings with other team members and/or Sales Manager.
MARKETING PARTICIPATION
- Attending company training seminars, industry Trade Shows, and other outside events that promote our company.
ADMINISTRATION
- Provide all reporting for expenses, mileage, and other reporting as required.
- Complete all necessary documentation and tracking of sales goals.

Experience:
