Part of Learning Solutions, our Instructional Design team is responsible for applying instructional design and development principles and processes to produce effective, engaging, and innovative programs to support our internal operations business segments. As a member of this team, you will consult with business partners to determine and propose learning strategies that add value and drive business results, including training or other activities to ensure learning transfer occurs and performance gaps are met. Our design team conducts needs-assessment and skills analysis for the business functions we support. We then use the analysis to design and develop training and performance-support solutions. Your primary goal is to ensure learning transfer occurs and to successfully address performance gaps.
As an Instructional Designer, you will be responsible for applying various design and learning strategies, with emphasis on virtual, self-paced, and instructor led learning. You will apply innovative and creative strategies including but not limited to web-based tutorials, documented procedures, audio and video vignettes, instructor-led materials, and simulations using various technology tools. In this role, you act as a project manager over smaller efforts or lead larger efforts that include a dedicated project manager. You will be responsible for leading larger scale design efforts, leading multiple designers toward a common design project goal. You will also have responsibility over specific program(s) within your operational area of support.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Applies a flexible approach to curriculum design, re-design, and development
- Co-leads in partnership with delivery partners the planning, development, and evaluation of learning programs from new hire materials to ongoing learning and professional development of our operations learner audiences
- Co-owns specific learning programs within Learning Solutions, becoming a resident expert on the topic and supporting all discussions with operational leaders on requests for changes and enhancements
- Makes holistic design strategy recommendations that support the entire learning experience, even outside the formal classroom
- Defines learning objectives
- Leads projects with multiple team members working on common design-related goal/projects
- Mentors other Instructional Designers
- Accept responsibilities as needed in defining process and standards
- Builds collaborative partnerships with peers in Learning Solutions and with business partners
- Ability to expect differently and look for opportunities to design and deliver new solutions

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience will be considered
- 3+ years of experience designing and developing engaging, effective, and large-scale learning programs using successful strategies while applying an agile approach
- 3+ years with Storyline, Camtasia, or equivalent online learning development tools
- Experience in conducting learning analysis and immersive learning concepts
- Experience in leading design projects in which multiple team members contribute
- Experience with incorporating multiple media elements in to learning programs including audio, video, animation, simulation, and self-developed graphics
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and needs assessment techniques
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft 365 products (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
- Proven ability to produce quality results using iterative models and tools
Preferred Qualifcations:
- Experience in project management, planning skills and working on multiple projects at a time
- Ability to influence peers and leaders when presenting solutions and recommendations for effective learning strategies
- Solid analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving and fact-based decision-making abilities
- Solid time management, planning skills
- Group facilitation and presentation skills
- Ability to self-manage projects that are less structured but address complex issues
- Ability to comprehend complex topics /specialized information and simplify for learner

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $54,400 to $97,000. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $60,000 to $106,700. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
