We are seeking an Intelligence Analyst for a permanent, full time contract role paying £27,824.32 per annum, plus £2700.10 London Allowance per annum with the British Transport Police (BTP) based at Albany House in London. This role offers the opportunity for flexible working!

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing. As an Intelligence Analyst with BTP you will provide expert analytical services to drive decision-making at operational, tactical and strategic levels.

As Intelligence Analystyouwill be required to:

  • Conduct expert analysis at strategic, tactical and operational levels, identifying and using appropriate analytical tools and techniques and adhering to national standards to interpret patterns, trends and gaps.
  • Research, analyse and assimilate large volumes of complex data obtained from a variety of sources including telecommunications data, ANPR, forensic phone downloads, crime data and intelligence systems.
  • Play a pivotal role in high profile live-time investigations, conducting analysis in a fast-time and pressured environment, communicating findings directly to Senior Investigating Officers and the wider investigation team in an accurate and succinct manner. This require out-of-hours working from different locations.
  • Identify intelligence gaps and make recommendations based on analysed data to Senior Investigation Officers, managers, and external agencies through effective products and presentations, and provide expert advice on the use of digital media and other opportunities that exist to assist complex investigations.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present information and provide recommendations to a variety of audiences including, stakeholders to ensure understanding and support decision making.
  • Ability to identify and scope a problem to effectively deliver analytical products.
  • Ability to research, analyse, and assimilate large volumes of complex data and prepare and produce concise analytical reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have skills in effectively producing a range of reports to a varied audience.

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised.
