The IT Network and Telecommunications Journey plays a critical role in ensuring network connectivity and servers are functioning at an optimal level. The incumbent will assess customer infrastructure and security needs, provide proposals or recommendations and define or coordinate common processes or procedures to support IT operations.

About the Division:

The Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) division is the agency’s technology provider for the HCA. Enterprise Network Services (ENS) section within ETS is solely accountable for delivering highly reliable infrastructure services supporting access and connectivity. This unit is responsible for enterprise-wide IT planning and performance deliveries for (8) networks internally and externally with numerous service providers.

About the position:

The IT Network and Telecommunications Journey is responsible for planning, designing, configuring, and architecting the agency’s network and telecommunications infrastructure used for the transmission of information in voice, data and/or video formats. This position is responsible for maintenance and oversight of high-risk, mission critical network hardware and software and for the overall day-to-day maintenance and improvements to the agencies IT infrastructure. The incumbent will manage the agencies core network infrastructure including, LAN/WAN, routing/switching, firewalls, VPN, WiFi, and cloud network environments.

This position is eligible to telework but is frequently required to report on-site to meet business need.

Duties

Some of what you will do:

  • Provides Tier 2 and some Tier 3 support for network connectivity, network security, and wireless service degradations and outages.
  • Analyze system logs to proactively identify potential issues in advance for appropriate mitigation. Integrates new technologies to improve future performance.
  • Troubleshoots network issues brought about by configuration changes, problems with third-party network connectivity providers and hardware failures.
  • Applies advanced technical knowledge to prioritize service requests, change requests and associated tasks, incidents, and problems.
  • Plans and builds approved complex network systems for deployment including installation and testing.
  • Using Senior level knowledge to analyze HCA network to determine the types of monitoring tools required to effectively monitor and respond to network disruptions.
  • Conducts trend analysis using monitoring tools and utilizing advanced techniques, make recommendations to improve system performance and efficiencies.
  • Collaborates with HCA’s Office of Secure Services (OSS) to design and implement data network security measures, operate network intrusion detection and forensics to ensure appropriate secure routing of network traffic to include wireless, LAN, and WAN of up to category 4 data.
  • Lead network specialist responsible for the maintenance and repairs of physical network equipment located within the state’s Data Center and HCA’s office locations.
  • Lead network specialist responsible for the evaluation and application of patches, certificates and required upgrades.
  • Leads assigned network related projects through the initiation, planning, executing, controlling, and closing phases.
  • Researches and evaluates immerging network equipment, technologies and trends for continual re-alignment and improvement of HCA’s network environment.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree
    or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT) or closely related field AND three (3) years recent professional and technical experience analyzing, designing, installing and/or maintaining Cisco (LANs & WANs) network infra-structure equipment and application architecture for medium to large networks or providing customer or technical support in information technology.

OR

  • Associate’s degree in Network Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent technical discipline from an accredited college or an accredited vocational training program AND five (5) years recent professional and technical experience analyzing, designing, installing and/or maintaining Cisco (LANs & WANs) network infra-structure equipment and application architecture for medium to large networks or providing customer or technical support in information technology.

OR

  • Seven (7) years recent professional experience in information technology analysis, system maintenance, or troubleshooting/problem resolution experience AND five (5) years recent professional and technical experience analyzing, designing, installing and/or maintaining Cisco (LANs & WANs) network infra-structure equipment and application architecture for medium to large networks or providing customer or technical support in information technology.

AND

  • Three (3) years of experience in working with new or unfamiliar network technologies, independently using documentation, online resources, and other available sources of education to advance & integrate technology.

  • Network Device Scripting (Cisco Configurations using NXOS, and IOS)
  • Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC)
  • Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure
  • Data Center Interconnect (DCI) Technology
  • Orion SolarWinds
  • Net Flow Tools

Desired certifications and formal training in network technologies:

  • Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA)
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Wireshark Certified Network Analyst (WCNA)
  • ITIL Foundations Certification
