We are seeking an IT Network Support Technician to join our team. We are a small IT company with two technicians plus a few outsourced subcontractors/freelancers. We are looking for another technician to subcontract work to. We are seeking someone with the necessary skills and available time to do anywhere from 2-5 jobs a week. Jobs are normally scheduled 2-5 days in advance (of course there are sometimes urgent issues with short notice). We are looking for someone already doing IT freelance and have spare/flexible time in their schedule to accommodate more work. If that is you, then this is a great opportunity for you.
The position we are currently looking for is mainly remote-hands for setting up and assisting in troubleshooting network equipment for our end clients.
Responsibilities:
- Resolve issues for clients on-premise at their location.
- Hands-and-eyes support for installing/troubleshooting routers, switches and sometimes other network gear.
- Most jobs are scheduled 2-5 days in advance, but there are emergencies that come up so we need someone with a very flexible schedule.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in IT, telecom and networking is essential
- Ability to build rapport with clients (many of our clients we’ve had for 20 years)
- Must have experience consoling into Cisco routers/switches and basic knowledge of CLI commands
- Good troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
- Positive and professional demeanor
Other details:
- Must have your own laptop you can use to console into routers for configuration and troubleshooting.
- Having a reliable vehicle is essential, as work is done on customer premises.
- Willingness to travel outside of Montreal area (usually once or twice a month, anywhere between Ottawa and Quebec City).
- Flexibility, as schedules constantly change and some work is required outside normal business hours for clients to avoid downtime.
- Must be able to communicate in both English (excellent) and French (good)

Part-time hours: 5-15 per week
Salary: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
