IT Network Technician

Perform network infrastructure engineering and installation operations on Layer 1 (L1) copper and fiber cable infrastructure, for multiple networks in compliance with industry standards, including Government policies and regulations.

Provide support for network telecommunications devices and infrastructure.

All L1 infrastructure shipyard must be modernized, which includes 173 buildings, dry-docks, and piers requiring new L1 infrastructure. L1 includes Inside Plant (ISP), which includes fiber and copper network drops, wireless APs, etc.; and Outside Plant (OSP), which includes fiber between buildings and wireless APs, etc.

Skills:

1. Ability to terminate single and multi-mode fiber.

2. Ability to use an Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR), proficient in optical loss testing.

3. Ability to use tools such as hammer drills and core drills.

4. Proficiency at reading, creating and manipulating CAD drawings.

5. Proficiency at creating and maintaining network drawings, as-build and other documentation.

6. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.

7. Must be able to see and distinguish different colors.

Experience:

1. Extensive knowledge of OSP and ISP cabling installation per the TIA-758, GR-765, GR-20, TIA-568 and TIA-942 standards.

3 years of experience with shipyard internal building (inside plant-ISP) and between building (outside plant-OSP) copper and fiber optics cable infrastructure, conduit runs, manhole systems, dry dock service galleries, and datacenter.

Certification:

1. OSP / ISP Fiber termination Certification

2. Data Cabling Installation Certification

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $77,000.00 – $87,000.00 per year
