What Will A Deployment Manager Do?

Albertsons is moving from EXE to Manhattan Active for the Warehouse Management System

(WMS) for our Distribution Centers.

There are 3 key infrastructure deliverables that the Facility Management team has to support this project with.

  • Setting up the Honeywell Voice Console – to enable voice activated transactions using Talkman/headset units
  • Working with ABS Networking team to ensure that Wireless, Wired and WAN at the DC will be able to support the new WMS transactions/traffic
  • Working with Procurement, Sourcing, Legal, Warehouse Ops and other groups within

ABS to procure, ready and deploy devices to the DC Devices include Forklift Terminal (VC80x), Handheld Terminals, Talkman/Headset, Tablets, Printers

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for large scale coordination of hardware/software rollout of new and updated

applications for retail distribution centers.

  • Plan and schedule deployment timelines and milestones using appropriate tools and

create and monitor detailed deployment plans. Define release schedule, timing and

calendar.

  • Plan and schedule a very detailed (daily, hourly) sequence of activities (repeatable

roadmap of activities).

  • Identify, analyze, prioritize, and communicate deployment risks and impact of risks on

the project. Manage deployment risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate risks.

  • Develop a communications plan to update technical project managers and stakeholders of

the progress and approval process.

  • Document Deployment Plans as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Organize, direct, and manage deployment execution.
  • Interface with applications and systems groups to test, pilot, and install distribution center

and backstage systems

  • Work with IT Field Services Technicians and 3rd party vendors on installation documents

and plans.

  • Coordinate work across IT and Business teams for deployment scheduling.
  • Recommend cost reduction and process opportunities for effective rollouts.
  • Communicate deployment plan, schedule, and status with the project team and

stakeholders.

  • Manage content of a release and be point of contact for information about the

components of a deployment.

  • Manage all deployment related documentation like progress reports, requirements

documentation and presentations.

  • Ensuring support turnover to the Internal IT and Business support groups to support

application hardware/software soon after project roll out.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of Task Management experience, with a Software Build, Engineering, and/or

Hardware Installation background.

  • Experience with managing a multi-facility, multi-location infrastructure provisioning

and/or deployment project.

  • Experience with Infrastructure projects. These could be provisioning of telecom

infrastructure or could be deployment of hardware/devices to multiple facilities over a

multi-year timespan.

  • Domain experience (Retail Distribution) and functional understanding of upgrading

related technology and/or a specified hardware/software deployment.

  • Ability to independently define tasks and develop sequencing and timelines for complex

rollouts/release cycles.

  • Able to create training tools, documentation, and deployment strategies for more complex

projects.

  • Knowledge of Project Management Methodology and Tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, MS

Project, Visio, Agile, SDLC etc.).

  • Proven ability to perform project planning, resource planning and risk assessment.
  • Strong understanding of client expectations and ability to recognize and escalate issues

that may affect deployment.

  • Strong ability to navigate across the organization between Field Services, Business Users

and IT Users using formal as well as informal channels.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to Retail Distribution Center locations across the

USA

  • Experience with Manhattan or a similar Warehouse Management System (WMS) will be

an asset

  • Supply Chain experience will be an asset

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Salary: $82.00 – $87.00 per hour
