Salary Grade Range – £25,835 – £29,960
Working Hours – 36.0 Hours per Week

The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role

The Role This is a fantastic opportunity for someone interested in a career in DDaT (IT), specifically with an interest in 2nd line Applications Support. DDaT is here to support the Police and therefore Policing within Sussex and Surrey. You will join a team that will provide 2nd Line Support for ALL applications within Surrey and Sussex Police which vary from command and control and operational applications to more task driven apps like finance and HR and many more. As well as working together across Sussex and Surrey supporting other teams within DDaT. This is an exciting time to be involved in DDaT Applications Support with Sussex and Surrey police working together and the migration onto windows 10 which paves the way for smarter working in the cloud. As an IT Technician you will gain valuable experience in supporting, patching, upgrading and working with our many applications that we have across both Police forces as well as dealing with change project project work.

Great problem-solving skills

Some experience in a technical environment
Understanding of the software development process
Knowledge / previous experience with SQL / Oracle
Understanding of the Agile methodology
Scripting knowledge in any programming language will be an advantage.
Creating and editing documentation of internal processes and procedures
Troubleshoot and diagnose application issues
Communicating with clients as required, keeping them informed of incident progress and notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages
Problem solve and troubleshoot incidents within agreed timescales
Understanding Requirements and User Stories
Entering all work as service tickets into SupportWorks
Working through a daily schedule
Prepare and Execute test scripts
Assisting team members both technicians and senior technicians and/or providing escalation support
Providing incident management to the various applications in accordance to SLAs Identify and escalate bugs & repeat faults to the relevant internal teams
Become SME for at least one of the core applications used

Skills & Experience

The ability to think logically
A good memory of how software and operating systems work
Excellent listening and questioning skills, combined with the ability to interact confidently with clients to establish what the problem is and explain the solution
The ability to work well in a team
Problem-solving skills
Microsoft Office Certifications
Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Cloud/SaaS Services
Understanding of Database Management
Telecommunications
