Job Description

Will be perform radio frequency interference (RFI) analysis and simulations of deep space satellite telecommunication links. Will develop software tools for modeling and predicting RFI for the NASA Deep Space Network. Will be a member of the Spectrum Engineering Group (332G) and report to the Group Supervisor within the Communications Research and Architectures Section.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct frequency coordination analysis for near-Earth and deep space satellites
  • Model satellite radio frequency interference using software simulation tools


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related technical discipline with typically 1 year of related experience; Master’s degree in similar disciplines with a minimum of 0 years of related experience
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Understanding of the standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques of radio frequency communications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with RF link budgets and satellite communication systems
  • Familiarity with spectrum management concepts and radio frequency interference analysis
  • Experience with Matlab programming and/or Satellite Orbit Analysis Program (SOAP)
