JR Network Test Engineer

Description:
Actalent Engineering has a Fortune 500 Telecommunication client looking for a JR. Network Test Engineer to join their SVS (Solution Validation Services) team. In this role, you will provide engineering support offerings for network architecture and design validation services to support our client’s commercial customers in an effort to mitigate deployment risk for new deployments, technology and accelerate new technology adoption.

Responsibilities include:

• Play an active role in the design, development, and testing of applications in a networking environment
• Plan, execute, and lead network and datacenter migration of applications including virtual cloud environments
• Collaborate with co-located and remote colleagues to solve technical issues.
• Validate large-scale application workflows in a cloud and datacenter/datacenter architecture
• Develop and execute tests, log and track issues and drive them to resolution with verification of bug fixes, document test results and research findings.
• Develop software/scripts as needed to assist in the systems validation process.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• BS in Computer Engineering, Science or a related field
• Strong hands-on networking experience (to the protocol level) in both Data Center and ISP environments
• Strong troubleshooting experience
• Customer facing experience and customer service aptitude
• Technical Skills:
• Advanced knowledge of Routing and Switching protocols in Data Center and ISP environments
• Data Center Platforms and Technology: Nexus, UCS
• Exposure to ACI and/or VXLAN
• Cisco IOS, NX-OS, and Nexus (must have)
• Cisco core platforms: CRS, ASR 9K, ASR 1k (must have)
• Familiarity with L2 Overlay technologies (VXLAN or NVGRE a plus)
• Experience with iSCSI
• Firewall and load balancing experience

Nice to have skills:

• Experience with Virtualization and VCenter
• Provisioning and configuration management using Ansible
• Exposure to tools such as WireShark, Spirent, or IXIA
• Experience developing automation scripts, eg Ansible, to assist in the network configuration process
