Jr. Telecom Specialist

Extra Space Storage


The Jr. Telecom Specialist position is an administrative role rather than a highly technical one. They will assist in collection of data, execution of projects, making payments for disconnected accounts, and reviewing and approving invoices for payment. They will also assist with the process of transferring ownership of accounts. The Jr. Telecom Specialist will report to the Telecom Manager. 

This role is based at our corporate headquarters in Salt Lake City, UT, with an hourly compensation range of $21-23.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve heavy volumes of telecom invoices and bills
  • Assist in maintenance of telecom inventory with 100% data integrity for assigned Extra Space Storage locations
  • Develop an understanding of our various telecom vendors and systems and how they collectively work together to keep Extra Space services running
  • Work with various account managers to keep all accounts in good standing
  • Ability to communicate complex information to all levels and departments both internally and externally
  • Independently review telecom invoices for on-time payments within TEM software
  • Understand cross-departmental invoice process and engage proper escalation channels when necessary
  • Research billing inquiries for internal stakeholders and provide clear explanations
  • Perform invoice audits, review for accuracy, confirm GL accounts, and provide approval to process audited batches for accounts payable department
  • Assist Telecom Manager in research and evaluation of third party software and hardware to assist in programming/developing solutions
  • Help Telecom Manager monitor performance of newly implemented solutions
  • Autonomously complete projects of varying size with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Effectively communicate project status, barriers and concerns, and findings to supervisor

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited direction
  • Comfortable working with remote teams
  • Understand how to navigate vendor portals (wireline/wireless)
  • Basic knowledge of telecommunications services and networks (voice, data, mobile, unified communications)
  • Previous experience with any of the following a plus: Excel, Smartsheet, Salesforce, SharePoint, Jira, Office 365, TEM software
  • Previous experience working with a ticketing system
