Intern Learning Objectives

IOM Bahrain

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Labour Mobility and Human Development (LMI) of IOM-Bahrain and the direct supervision of the Graphic Designer (CIOP), the successful candidate will be accountable and responsible for assisting in the design and layout of a wide range of materials in line with the IOM brand guidelines. The successful candidate will be based in IOM-Bahrain. The position duration is 6 months.

Tasks will include:

  • Assist in the design and layout of publications, reports, brochures, and other IEC (Information, Education and Communication) materials in line with the IOM brand guidelines.
  • Work with the senior graphic designer to develop creative concepts and visuals for communication materials.
  • Create and design infographics, social media visuals, and other digital graphics in line with the IOM brand guidelines.
  • Assist in the preparation of visual presentations and documents, including PowerPoint presentations and proposals.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute creative ideas and solutions.

Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of design principles, typography, colour theory, layout, and composition.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work within established brand guidelines.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and external service providers.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of digital design and social media platforms and best practices.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to present and articulate design concepts and ideas.
  • Creativity and innovation, including the ability to develop new and engaging visual solutions.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify potential issues or areas of improvement.

Education and Language:

  • Must be enrolled in the final academic year of bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Or be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent).
  • Or have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.
  • Candidate must be fluent in English while Arabic is desirable.
