The Department of Infrastructure (INF) provides high quality services to the public and Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) departments, boards and agencies including the planning, design, construction, acquisition, operation and maintenance of public transportation infrastructure and the buildings, works and equipment required for the GNWT to deliver its programs and services. INF makes essential petroleum products available for sale to the public where these products are not provided by the private sector, and promotes the development and increased use of energy efficient technologies. INF also regulates electrical and mechanical safety services and licenses individuals and vehicles operating in the territory.

Job Information
Scope: The Junior Telecom Project Officer is responsible for assisting with the system programming, installation, set up, troubleshooting and administration for all Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) telecom systems. The Junior Telecom Officer works closely with the TSC Telecom Project Officers, developing skills to enable them toprogress to telecom projects with greater scope and complexity. This position assists with all phases of telecom projects, from inception through implementation, to evaluation and continued operations. Services are provided in accordance with the direction and mandate of the Technology Service Centre (TSC) and with standards developed by the Informatics Policy Council (IPC), Office of the Chief Information Officer or by a GNWT Standards Committee.
Typically attained by: Diploma in Telecommunications, Electronics Engineering, or Computer Science with at least one year of demonstrated Avaya Aura IP-PBX programming, experience and/or training. Knowledge of project management in a northern environment and/or Blackberry Enterprise Mobile Device Management would be an asset. Other combinations of education such as a Bachelor of Arts or Management Degree and related Avaya Aura experience totaling 5 years experience will be considered.
