Job description
This exciting role is based in Lavington Street with occasional travel to Cornwall. You’ll be working as part of a geographically split team, primarily involved in the day-to-day support of the Telephony systems and infrastructure, ensuring that all IT Standards are fully applied and adhered.
Reporting to the Network Telephony Lead, you’ll be responsible for BAU activities supporting customers and the Telephony infrastructure which will include documentation, configuration of systems, provision of services, fault finding and resolution.
Whilst some IT services are transitioning to Cornwall, we need to provide a robust, consistent and local service in London, so we’re looking for dynamic, skilled and independent individuals to become part of this new, challenging and rewarding environment.
This post will be offered on a full-time, indefinite contract.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with day to day troubleshooting and monitoring to resolve any problems / issues.
- Assist with the running routine tests on telecommunications systems to ensure that all components are functioning correctly.
- Assist with the documentation of current infrastructure including MDFs, DPs, Tie cables and structured wiring.
- Assist with tidying and rationalisation of the telephony system and infrastructure.
- Assist with the configuration and housekeeping on the Mitel MX-One, Proteus Call Logger and Liberty Voicemail / ACD.
- Assisting with projects work as required.
Key Objectives:
- Deliver Telephony Services in line with agreed service levels.
- Ensure all Telephony services and infrastructure is maintained to the correct technical and architectural best practice specifications.
- Contribute to the delivery of updates or solutions to the Telecoms environment.
- Possess a detailed understanding of all King’s College London’s Telephony infrastructure and associated environments.
- Operate in line with King’s Operating Model and Values and promote these within the team.
- Contribute to the Telephony service / product roadmap.
- Deliver operational excellence across the Telephony Services Team.
The above list of responsibilities not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.
Skills, knowledge, and experience
Essential criteria
1. Experience with installation, maintenance or support of PABX systems
2. Sufficient working experience of the following:
- Krone frames and CW1308 cabling.
- ISDN30 and PSTN circuits.
- SIP Trunks.
- Analogue Telephony.
- SIP Telephony.
- SBCs
3. Have an understanding of data networks.
4. Good verbal and written skills.
Desirable criteria
1. Operational experience of MD110 / Mitel MX-One
2. Operational experience of Sonus / Ribbon SBC 2000s
3. Additional Cisco Accreditations (CCDA, CCDP etc)
