Lead Communications Technician (Direct Hire)

The Lead Communications Tech must possess the ability to proficiently perform the technical responsibilities in all copper and fiber installations. In addition, this role will function as a Lead/Supervisor of the technical team while maintaining proficiently in multiple types of installations such as new builds, retros, data centers, and service troubleshooting.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Supervise the coordination of small groups of technicians in the performance of daily workload.
  • Install copper and fiber optic cables including overhead cable supports (j-hooks, cable tray, ladder rack, etc.).
  • Route and bundle (dressing) cables through modular furniture, cable trays, ladder rack, etc.
  • Drop or “fish” walls with box eliminators and install surface mount raceway.
  • Install work area outlets including wall plates, modular furniture, floor boxes, etc.
  • Organize cables and determine/install service loop and cable labeling.
  • Buildout IT closets including mounting backboards, ladder rack, equipment racks/cabinets, patch panels, fiber optic enclosures, etc.
  • Install proper grounding for equipment/ladder racks and patch panels as required.
  • Install low-voltage devices such as wireless AP’s, speakers, display mounting brackets, etc.
  • Identify active voice or data circuits.
  • Assist the Project Manager with effective performance of project crew and provide necessary onsite training.
  • Promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.
  • Act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s).
  • Create, develop and implement project process improvement(s)

Skills/Abilities:

  • Solid knowledge of ESC and industry label standards.
  • Ability to Install sleeves and firestop as required.
  • Extensive working knowledge with copper and fiber optic testers (power meter and OTDR).
  • Ability to read, interrupt and follow blueprints.
  • Effective ability to read, write and give oral presentations.
  • Proficiency in completing EndSolution’s job-related communications such as material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers, quality assurance and others as required in a accurate and timely manner.
  • Ability to understand and complete all personal EndSolution documentation including all digital processes such as Clock Shark, ADP (payroll), PTO requests and expense/reimbursement reports.
  • Must be able to work at various heights on a ladder, work in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
  • Demonstrated skills to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
  • Proficiency with the use of required tools.
  • Must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.

Education, Certification, License:

  • (Minimum)High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field with demonstrated ability to supervise others.
  • Must know the universal communications color codes.
  • Must meet Company minimum driving standards.

Pay: $27.00 – $35.00 per hour
