The Role

Lumen is seeking a Lead Corporate Investigator to join its Ethics and Compliance team in Lumen’s Legal Department. As a Lead Corporate Investigator, you will be responsible for conducting complex internal investigations into concerns raised internally and externally and reported to the Compliance team through a variety of channels, including the Lumen Integrity Line. The investigator will report directly to the Manager of Corporate Investigations, will work closely with Management, Human Resources and members of the Law Department while conducting investigations, and will otherwise support the Ethics and Compliance team. In this role, you will be required to work effectively across multiple business units, cultures, and geographies in a multifaceted corporate environment, to effectively communicate investigation findings to the business, and to identify necessary remedial measures following investigations.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex internal compliance investigations, as assigned, in U.S. and globally, including conducting intake meetings, background research, data analysis, document review, issue-spotting, investigative interviews, preparation of report and findings, and read-out meetings with management
  • Promote Lumen’s Success Enablers – Own Commitments, Be Inclusive, and Grow
  • Coordinate and conduct interviews of complaining party, subjects, and witnesses, while prioritizing and managing investigations of varying degrees of severity, complexity, and urgency
  • Respond quickly to critical events that require immediate investigative support and demonstrate flexibility in responding to changes in assignment and job responsibility
  • Prepare concise Reports of Investigation for read-outs to Human Resources and Senior Management.
  • Effectively support and communicate with members of Human Resources, Senior Management, Corporate Security, Internal Audit, Finance, Law Department, and other business units throughout the investigations process and in other support of other Ethics and Compliance initiatives.
  • Identify and make recommendations on remedial measures following investigations
  • Possess the highest degree of integrity and a demonstrated ability to protect confidential information
  • Travel be required.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required

  • Juris Doctor required
  • 2+ years experience conducting investigations or similar experience in a law firm, company, or state, federal, or other government agency
  • Excellent research, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational, time-management and prioritization capabilities, with the ability to manage workload independently and efficiently
  • Sound business and legal judgment


Preferred

  • Experience with EEO matters (e.g. Title VII, ADA, ADEA), human resources matters, or fraud investigations
  • Experience with publicly-traded company and/or in technology or telecommunications industry
