JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: LEAD FIELD TECHNICIAN

DEPARTMENT: OPERATIONS

REPORTS TO: OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT

SUMMARY: Schedules, oversees, and performs the successful implementation of DAS construction projects including but not limited to oversight of sub-contractors, performing site installation, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and inspection of all work during construction to ensure quality and compliance with plans and specifications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedules, oversees, and performs all phases of construction from frame to finish; coordinates all necessary tasks and inspections.
  • Accurately completes all necessary paperwork including but not limited to work orders, service orders, time logs, and schedules.
  • Maintains control of assigned equipment to ensure adequate stock levels and safe operating condition; participates in formal inventory process on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Safely operates assigned company equipment and ensures that it is maintained according to manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Exhibits appearance and conduct in accordance with established company standards to present a professional image to customers and the public; maintains the highest degree of decency, honesty, and integrity.
  • Supports the successful completion of project schedules, tasks as assigned, and control of construction activities.
  • Support the completion of Project Daily & Weekly Reports
  • Performs the installation of Telecom Equipment, Infrastructure, Cabling, and related components.
  • Performs the testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of all equipment, cabling & related components.
  • Possesses and maintains knowledge of OSHA requirements; implements OSHA guidelines and programs; enforces established safety guidelines and promotes a safe workplace; conducts regular safety meetings with workers.
  • Possesses and maintains knowledge of telecommunications industry standards including, but not limited to, ANSI, Telcordia, TIA; Participates in the research and development of new construction materials and methods as required.
  • Possesses and maintains knowledge operational knowledge of industry test equipment including, but not limited to, Anritsu, Kaelus, JDSU, Fluke.
  • Possesses and maintains knowledge of industry OEM specifications including, but not limited to,

CommScope, Corning, Ericsson, JMA.

  • Possesses and maintains knowledge of RF Theory, RF Math, and Major Carrier Frequency bands, protocols, and terminology.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees employees and contractors that are assigned to construction projects.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job. o Required: High School Graduate or GED and 3+ years of technician experience in the DAS and telecommunications industry o Preferred: Minimum 2 years of a technical college and/or industry training/certifications of proven experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.
  • Frequently required to talk, hear, and communicate.
  • Frequently required to lift/push/carry items up to 50 pounds or more
  • Frequent exposure to hot, cold, wet and/or humid conditions
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise (examples: equipment, tools, etc.)
  • Frequent work near moving mechanical parts
  • Frequent work in high and precarious places
  • Frequent and heavy travel required

Pay: $65,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
