People Source Consulting are currently seeking a Lead Network / Solution Architect to take on a 24 month contract role with our defence client in Wiltshire.

This is a Senior role, reporting in to Senior Stakeholders and 1* / 2* generals within MOD.

The role will include:

• Providing governance and assurance to architecture work undertaken within their Network Architecture.
• Ensuring compliance of design work undertaken in Network Architecture with the Design Directorate’s Enterprise Architecture policy and principles and for maximising the reuse of artefacts and architecture building blocks, whilst managing necessary derogations and waivers from enterprise architecture.
• Architects will also lead and support the coordination of designs with other Solution Executives, including managing inbound and outbound dependencies, both technical and temporal.
• Architects will coordinate design work undertaken under their leadership with the Portfolio Integration Office to ensure that delivery timescales, dependencies and risk are effectively managed within their Network Architecture and within the wider portfolio.
• Working within task based teams consisting of Crown Servants & Contracted Technical Support to translate and exploit domain-relevant Government and Defence Technology Policy and Strategy into effective enterprise change for Information and Communications Technology, focusing on beneficial outcomes for the user.
• Architects will provide SME guidance and support to the Design Authority Board (as an ad-hoc member, when required), and will work with Solution Architects to establish and promote Defence Enterprise Architectures and re-use of Core Architectural Components and Technologies/Tools.
• ArchiMate V3.0 will be used for the generation and maintenance of architectural models. (BIzzDesign is the preferred ArchiMate modelling tool, however models in Archimate 3.0 by any compliant tool will be accepted, subject to suitability for import into BizzDesign.

Skills Required:

• Ensuring and assuring technical rigor in architectures and procurements, by applying deep subject matter expertise and extensive industry knowledge.
• Supporting in challenging industry suppliers (new and current), to assimilate best practice, evergreen their services and to design and implement for maximum benefit and performance within the Defence ICT Estate.
• Promoting industry best practice in technology and tools within each of their specialist disciplines.
• Ensuring coherence in the use of tools and technologies, including reuse rather than duplication where appropriate
• Representing appropriate technology choices, options and risks and issues to be considered to the Design Authority Board.
• Actively supporting the up-skilling of crown servants and documentation to enable Architects to become autonomous in these skills and capabilities over time. This will be tracked by Chief Technologist as the Line Manager.

In Return:

• Up to £750pd
• 24 month initial contract
• Corsham Base location with 70/30 remote to onsite working.

This is a secure role, so all applicant should either have current live clearance or be willing and eligible to go through top level Defence clearance (SC / DV)
