Job Description

Experience of, and success in, a similar senior sales or business development role within the Rail infrastructure sector, covering industrial / electrical components preferably wire & cable and security related products. Ideally selling a supply chain solution to main or electrical contractors, M&E / Integrators. The ability to understand and sell supply chain services is key. You will have the drive and ambition to drive your career forward, and hit the ground running from day one.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, evaluates, and develops new business opportunities in order to expand business and increase profitability.
  • Responsible for retaining and expanding existing company relationships, product lines or market segments, and soliciting new business from prospective customers and suppliers.
  • Work closely with WESCO/Anixter’s supplier base to drive new opportunities
  • Oversees development and research activities to build on company strengths, identifies potential new markets and business opportunities, increases market share, and strengthens company’s competitive position within industry.
  • Establishes relationships with potential customers and suppliers.
  • Calls on existing or prospective customers within framework of business development call program.
  • Conducts roll out meetings at new, key, and global account customer locations.
  • Leads, develops, and nurtures local implementation teams (LIT).
  • Finds, calculates, and documents cost savings related value add programs, utilising the supply chain services team.
  • Creates and implements account business development activities including product gap identification, account discovery process, and One-WESCO/Anixter engagement.
  • Conducts branch, district, and customer training sessions on account and customer processes.
  • Serves as liaison between key suppliers, marketing services, and branch operations.

Qualifications

  • GCSE O level / A level
  • Educated to a degree standard (desirable)
  • Some formal Business / administration or Industry qualification
  • 5 years required, 6+ years preferred of experience directly related to position.
  • Knowledge of industry including suppliers, customers, and competitors.
  • Knowledge of WESCO/Anixter’s existing business lines, strengths and challenges preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong business analysis, financial modelling and negotiation skills.

Necessary Skills, Knowledge And Experience

  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Sales experience within the UK, selling wire & cable and associated products.
  • Evidence of an understanding of the local market, and an existing business network
  • A proven track record in finding, developing and closing new business from new accounts.
  • Ability to identify and understand customer needs in both product and services
  • A recognised figure in the Rail Industry.
  • Wire & Cable / security product knowledge.
  • Product knowledge in other key areas: support & supplies, lighting, bulks electrical products
  • Ability to understand and sell Supply Chain Services.
  • Ability to initiate and develop relationships with key decision makers inside and outside company.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and simultaneously manage several projects.
