DIRECTV is seeking a Field Services Manager. This leadership role will be responsible for managing a crew of technicians who engage in installation and maintenance, provisioning, dispatch, and testing activities at the customer site or a company location for DIRECTV. Additional key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Engage in installation and maintenance, provisioning, dispatch, and testing activities on related power equipment.
  • Review technician performance and provide feedback and coaching to technicians designed to address performance issues.
  • Conduct safety and quality inspections to ensure high quality and safe performance by technicians. Identify and remove roadblocks to safe and efficient performance by technicians.
  • Work with Dispatch to ensure that work is effectively assigned.
  • Ensure that technician training is complete.
  • Administer discipline to technicians and make recommendations concerning long term suspensions or terminations of technicians.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints or service issues. Receive technician grievances and resolve them at the step one level as appropriate.
  • Interface with customers on-site.
  • Install, test, and adjust equipment as necessary to maintain the continuation of service revenue in assigned territory.
  • Handle other issues related to union matters, as necessary.
  • Ensure that all functions are performed in a timely fashion to meet customer and company specifications.
  • Responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all operations with respect to installation support, service, and major moves, adds, and changes.
  • Management of technicians may include responsibility for technician time reporting, payroll, and on-call or vacation scheduling.
  • May be responsible for utilizing Management Systems & Operational Control (MSOC) techniques to manage employee efficiency, performance, and customer service.
  • Typically reports to second or third level management.


What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Typically, a high school diploma, GED or equivalent related network experience; Technical degree preferred
  • Strong knowledge of PC Microsoft applications
  • 3-5 years of Network related technical experience
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • BA/BS in Telecommunications/Electronics/Business desired
  • Project Management/Scheduling preferred
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products
