The opportunity
Reporting to the Director of Measurement & Process Safety, the Manager will be responsible for providing direction, oversight, and completion of activities to provide accurate, timely technical support to Operations on measurement, regulation, odorization and associated equipment; provide engineering support for interconnect, growth, and GPMC projects; and develop and monitor advanced technical solutions for electronic data acquisition and monitoring.
What you’ll do
- Lead and provide strategic direction for teams of measurement engineers and technologists directly involved with all measurement, gas quality, regulation, and communications equipment
- Coordinate the team to deliver program scope of work consistent with strategic initiatives across functional and regional boundaries by coordinating with Operations, Technical and Operational Services, Technical Centre, Projects, IS SCADA, and Commercial teams
- Accountable for support to Field Operations for issues with flow computers, Remote Terminal Units (RTU), telecommunications equipment, process controls, gas quality equipment, odorization equipment, indirect fired heaters, software applications, and LAUF investigation
- Provide technical guidance in conducting Root Cause Failure Analysis at Measurement and Regulation Stations as required
- Accountable for the development and execution of the O&M and capital programs, including project idea formation and scoping, Class 5 cost estimates, risk scoring and prioritization, design input, construction, and commissioning
- Accountable for real-time data collection strategies and digital asset modeling for visualization and anomaly detection
- Accountable for the ownership of maintenance procedures, engineering standards and specifications, and development/maintenance of equipment integrity plans
- Support Business Development and Commercial Operations with new facility requests, facility agreements, and meter station capacity reviews
- Support the development of key performance indicators to track progress (most importantly, leading indicators) and communication of program scorecard to stakeholders, analyze trends on program performance metrics and make recommendations to leadership on corrective actions
- Ensure compliance and implementation of effective measurement processes and standards to sustain and improve organizational performance and to support projects and operations
- Manage resources across multiple projects and programs
- Oversee and track the work of staff to ensure program is executed and managed in accordance with approved plans, schedules, and budgets
- Hire, mentor, and performance manage staff through leadership, motivation, counseling, and training; provide developmental opportunities
- Establishes team goals, objectives, and strategies; optimize work practices and processes; and provide feedback to enhance learning
- Manage department budgeting and forecasting for labor and expenses
- Work with internal and external customers and other stakeholders to ensure that expectations are aligned.
- Work collaboratively with other technical teams to share and implement best practices and promote efficiencies where appropriate
- Participate in Measurement and Regulation industry committees and share changes / directions with Business Unit

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering preferred; other degrees will be considered based on experience
- Minimum 15 years of applicable industry experience required, preferably in natural gas or petrochemical facility
- Possesses core competency skills in all the following: measurement, RTU/EFM, regulation, over pressure protection, odorization, gas quality and gas conditioning equipment
- Understands concepts of asset lifecycle management, system reliability and operations
- Extensive knowledge and proven competency in engineering/design processes
- Working knowledge of engineering design standards and applicable natural gas industry codes and regulations
- Experience with software applications such as SAP, Microsoft Office, MS Teams, PowerBI, etc.
- Leadership skills: ability to create a vision, clearly communicate direction and drive to goal completion
- Effective stakeholder management skills
- Understands and expresses complex and sensitive concepts clearly, correctly and in a well-organized form
- Must be able to process information quickly and make timely, fact-based decisions
- Must be able to effectively communicate across all cultural and company boundaries
- Skilled in the areas of collaboration, negotiation and influencing, process mapping, problem solving and creative solutions
- Ability to recognize strategic implications of problems and issues
- Effective process improvement and organizational change management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with measurement systems
- Minimum 5 years in a formal leadership role
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification
- LI-Hybrid
