Job Summary:
Provides leadership and coordination for the activities of the Engineering and Construction Project Management team and responsible for leading major projects including network upgrades and the delivery of Shentel network solutions to internal and external customers. This includes project planning and project execution within budget and committed delivery timeframes. This position will communicate directly with internal and external customers to define technical requirements, a delivery plan and schedule, and provide status updates. The Manager will be responsible for developing, communicating, and implementing project plans to drive Shentel Engineering, Construction, and Operations teams to meet customer expectations and project delivery dates. This position is also responsible for the management and success assurance of multiple direct reports in a team environment including individual development, team building strategies, and conflict resolution.

Qualifications Requirements:
a. Education: BS in a relevant engineering or technology field is preferred. Other candidates with a strong technical background and substantial industry or military experience will be considered.

b. Experience Level:
i. 10 or more years of experience in the telecommunications industry is strongly preferred

ii. 5 or more years of project management experience – strongly preferred to include new fiber network builds

iii. 5 or more years managing employees directly is strongly preferred

c. Budgeting and financial analysis

d. PMP, CAPM, or similar certifications preferred, but not required

e. Strong project management experience, strongly preferred in a PMO role

f. Fiber engineering or construction background – project management on new fiber network builds strongly preferred

g. Skill Requirements:
i. Detail oriented and strong organizational skills

ii. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

iii. Ability to prioritize and time manage across multiple, simultaneously projects

iv. Strong Leadership and Team Development qualities and skillsets

v. Strong Data Analytics with various reports and software systems

Knowledge of:
a. In-depth knowledge of telecom engineering and construction practices and theory.

b. Experience managing multiple complex technical projects simultaneously.

c. Access technologies (FTTB, FTTT, Metro Ethernet).

d. Transport technologies (Ethernet, DWDM).

e. Customer-facing experience in a sales, sales engineering, network implementation, or technical support role.

f. Experience working with cross-functional teams and matrix management.

g. Team and individual development training, theories, and practices.

h. Conflict resolution theories and practices.
