Job Purpose:
Responsible for managing the ordering, configuration, installation coordination, inventory management, and on-going support of all outsourced telecommunications services for the company.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties:
- Directly manages a group of Telecom Provisioners and Escalations Specialists
- Manages and directly provisions from external vendors all outsourced telecom services for the company
- Determines the most appropriate telecom vendor, service, and bandwidth needed to provide the final service to the external or internal customer in the most cost-effective manner. Builds and consistently updates standards as to what services are deployed in what situations and communicates those to their team
- Coordinates with other groups in the company involved in service delivery to make sure telecom services are delivered timely and in the correct configuration such that our external or internal customers are provided the correct services on schedule
- Maintains an accurate database of all telecom services currently in-service and assists Telecom Analysts in audits of the services for which the company is paying
- Reports regularly on all ordering activity, including the carrier’s name, order numbers, circuit IDs, billing accounts, and the timeliness of the order
- Escalates with telecom vendors to ensure timely delivery of circuits
- Works with telecom vendors to resolve service outages. Escalates with carriers when outages are critical to the business. Is available on nights and weekends to escalate with vendors as needed
- Works with other departments/subsidiaries to provide telecommunications services needed for internal Securus communications, such as toll-free service for the Customer Service department, and local services for the PBX
- Works with other departments/subsidiaries to develop and implement telecom optimization opportunities
- Works with other departments/subsidiaries to gather and disseminate telecom data, as necessary
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of telecommunications services and how they are provided
- Familiarity with PSTN routing and LERG data
- Telecommunications ordering (ASR and similar) expertise
- Should be comfortable reading and interpreting contracts and tariffs
- Ability to juggle multiple projects, assigning and monitoring employees as they complete those projects
- Ability to train employees on new methods of provisioning and order/process tracking
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- 8 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry to include:
- 2 years’ of telecommunications provisioning experience
- Experience in telecommunications ordering methods
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or related field
- Experience managing provisioning and access management at a telecommunications service provider (carrier)
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and a variety of office equipment.
- Occasionally may need to reach, stoop, or kneel.
