The Role

Provides strategic direction, monitors workload, and manages performance for a federal Network Operations Center (NOC) engineering team through communication, complex problem solving, and proactive monitoring of network and team output. Fully responsible for all managed services operations of the dedicated team and the network, ensuring fast resolution and communication of network impacts and driving continuous improvement in both network performance and operating efficiencies. Represents Lumen in the communication of network issues and improvements to both repair teams and the dedicated federal customer. Responsible for creating and ensuring adnce to all processes and procedures, as well as internal reporting and performance metrics.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Supervise, educate, motivate, and coach employees who are responsible for providing NOC customer engineering support for managed services. Integrating a diverse and geographically dispersed staff into a single cohesive team.
  • Ability to diagnose performance issues, set goals, establish measurements, and confront deficiencies.
  • Strong focus on the customer.
  • Management of day-to-day operations projects for engineers supporting federal customers
  • Manage support of our Federal NOC and managed network, providing 7x24x365 support.
  • Interaction with leadership ensure open communication and relationships.
  • Effectively communicates changes to team and continually strives to improve employee engagement.
  • Responds to inquires; investigates and resolves problems; and interfaces with key customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Work cross-functionally to solve problems.
  • Coordinate and evaluate work activities to achieve expected operational objectives and conduct performance management of employees.
  • Celebrates successes utilizing appropriate reward and recognition. Motivates team to continual improvement and achievement of maximum performance.
  • Identify strategic transformational changes of team’s workflow w automation and process changes can be made to gain efficiency.
  • Responsible for management of proactive projects to improve the network reliability and performance.
  • Professional development of employees by focusing on individual needs, training requirements, and skill level.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required Skills:

  • Network or telecommunications background with an understanding of general routing and WAN circuit concepts.
  • Ability to track and analyze results, including network operations, productivity, and financial performance
  • Goal and detail oriented.
  • Advanced use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
  • 10+ years of related experience with managed services and telecommunications networks.
  • Ability to act with a sense of urgency and consistently demonstrate leadership and a high level of engagement with supervisors and team members.
  • 5+ years project management
  • Strong people management skills. Effectiveness in providing feedback in a timely manner, and must possess strong communication, coaching, development, mentoring, and performance management skills.
  • Strong communication skills – oral, written, and presentation skills required. Ability to communicate courteously and professionally with customers, outside contacts including vendors and other employees, including various levels of staff and management.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel, work weekends, nights and after hours when necessary.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
