Mining Engineering Student/Intern – Summer 2023 Job Detail

Your future role on our team

By joining our team, your role will be to collaborate with members of multidisciplinary teams (engineers, technicians, drafters and other colleagues) on one or several projects. You will perform functions related to engineering such as studies, preliminary and detailed engineering or commissioning.

Participate in analyzing various types of technical problems related to engineering mining projects

Participate in small-scale multidisciplinary mandates as part of a work team comprised of engineers and technicians.

Participate in carrying out study or detailed engineering mandates for clients with existing facilities or for those wanting to expand or build new facilities.

Prepare plans and specifications based on guidelines for Mining mandates.

Take part in preparing reports, specifications, estimates and tenders

Prepare lists and bills of materials in accordance with codes, standards, drawings and other established methods while complying with the firm’s quality system requirements.

Produce technical data sheets at client sites.

Assist more experienced personnel with the technical aspects of complex tasks.

Overview of certifications and job requirements

Student in Mining or Geological Engineering from a recognized University

Asset: relevant experience, either in open-pit or underground mining and operations experience

Asset : Experience with mine planning software such as Deswik, Minesight, Datamine, Whittle, MineSched or Vulcan

Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills

Asset: Budgeting, estimating and scheduling experience with financial modelling skills

Asset: Experience in mine equipment selection, capital cost and operating cost estimates

Travel to domestic and occasionally international destinations
