Northrop Grumman has an exciting and challenging new opportunity for a Risk Management Analyst- the qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman’s corporate risk management team with primary responsibility for serving the Mission Systems Sector.

Mission Systems is a leader in advanced mission solutions and multifunction systems, primarily for the U.S. defense and intelligence community, and international customers. Major products and services include cyber; command, control, communications and computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems; radar, electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) and acoustic sensors; electronic warfare systems; advanced communications and network systems; cyber solutions; intelligence processing systems; navigation; and maritime power, propulsion and payload launch systems. The sector is reported in four business areas: Airborne Multifunction Sensors; Maritime/ Land Systems & Sensors; Navigation, Targeting & Survivability; and Networked Information Solutions. The sector earns approximately $10 billion in annual revenue with locations and employees across the United States and Europe.

The successful candidate will become the Mission Systems Sector’s “go to” person for insurance matters and work with key internal and external stakeholders to develop, implement and administer company insurance programs. The position analyzes and defines potential loss areas and determines appropriate type and level of loss protection to be insured. Handles claims, monitors progress and tracks payments. Participates in appraisal and adjustment proceedings. Develops and coordinates risk control programs to prevent losses and reduce premiums. Strong interpersonal skills will be required to build relationships with Mission Systems Sector executives, operations, business management, contracts, supply chain, legal and finance teams.

Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Execute a proactive risk identification process and to understand and evaluate new business opportunities and developments
  • Provide risk management advice and contract edits for Contract and Business Capture teams.
  • Review subcontracts with our Global Supply Chain professionals for appropriate insurance content.
  • Gather and evaluate property, aviation and other exposures used to assist Corporate Risk Management to renew insurance policies
  • Assist with the adjustment of insurance claims
  • Process certificate of insurance and auto ID card requests
  • Coordinate with accounting, government compliance and other departments to ensure proper capture and accounting for insurance related costs as needed
  • Collaborate with Environmental, Health and Safety and Facilities personnel for general loss prevention including fire inspection of properties, pollution liability sites and worker safety
  • Manage exposure data collection process in RMIS system


Basic Qualifications –
to be considered for this position, you must minimally meet these knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 9 years’ of relevant experience or Master’s Degree with 7 years’ relevant experience or CPCU designation with 7 years’ relevant experience
  • Agile MS Office and Outlook skills
  • Must be able to obtain a Confidential Clearance
  • This position will offer partial telework, but candidates must be local to our office in Linthicum, MD

Preferred Qualifications – candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • ARM and/or CPCU Certifications
  • Brokerage, Underwriting or Claims Adjusting Experience
  • Aerospace and/or marine liability experience
  • Government Contracting experience
  • Experience with RMIS systems
Salary Range: $99,200 USD – $148,800 USD
Employees be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
