Role Description

The National Account Manager (NAM) will own the in-country relationship on a set of named account(s) as well as for any requested accounts from another region for an MNC whose headquarters are based outside of the Americas. The role supports the Global GAM who owns the global revenue target and relationship, to drive inbound sales to the Americas.


Role Purpose

  • Support the GAM with executing the strategic agenda on accounts by identifying and closing opportunities within the local Region / country.

  • Build and strengthen effective relationships on the account in the local Region / country.

  • Coordinate any local support resource to ensure alignment and delivery against KPIs.

  • Understands the Global Account Plan and executes strategy locally, as defined by GAM

  • Maximises understanding of the customers buying centre to appropriately target activity and messaging of Global Enterprise products and solutions

  • Agrees and recommends all financial targets per account with Sales Manager and GAM for gross margin, cost to manage, cost to connect, net assets, turnover, customer churn, operational cash flow, ARPU, ARPA, Data, voice, product specific

  • Defend and grow accounts locally and provide competitive intelligence locally and engagement with local influencers and decision makers to assist in local, regional & global growth

  • Secure, manage and deepen the Vodafone customer relationship with the long term focus of expanding the overall footprint/ penetration and introduction of innovative products and services

  • Work closely with the account team to ensure delivery of all financial targets including revenue, connections for voice and data. They are also responsible for growing the local market share and building the VF brand of the set of accounts in the Americas.

  • Responsible for developing and implementing inbound account strategy to ensure delivery

  • Establishes appropriate relationships with Vodafone customers and leverages those relationships to win new business

  • Works as part of a virtual team to drive collaboration with all other functions within Vodafone to drive the Vodafone Global Enterprise agenda and ensure alignment

  • NAM works collaboratively with the GAM to identify the Global opportunities to be pursued locally

  • NAM informs GAM of local opportunities that can be applied in other Regions on the same account

  • Interacts with Product Specialists to enhance local opportunity development in the Region / country

  • NAM informs the CCM of any contractual requirements outlined by accounts as part of any local country / Region pursuit process

Core Competencies

Required Skills

  • Deep understanding of the customer’s business, it’s market and industry alongside key decision-makers and influencers in account organisation

  • 5 yrs+ successful global accounts/enterprise solution selling within technology services – for example, cloud, hosting, M2M, telecommunications, or unified communications

  • Enthusiasm for working in a dynamic, deadline-driven and high-profile role and able to work effectively on multiple, concurrent projects

  • Demonstrated ability to influence at ‘C’-level

  • Ability to translate customer’s objectives and strategy into relevant VGE propositions

  • Experience selling across multi tower deals

Desired Skills

  • International – lived and worked abroad or worked in a global account management role for large amount of time.

  • Ability to think strategically and drive sales transformation programmes

  • Excellent communicator

Key Qualifications

  • At least five years of enterprise solutions sales experience within technology services – for example, cloud, hosting, IoT, telecommunications, or unified communications

  • Demonstrated ability to influence at the C-level, network at middle management levels within customer and partner companies, and proven success with relationship management within multinational companies

  • Proven understanding of important financial concepts, purchasing practices and industry specific aspects of corporate customers

  • Enthusiasm for working in a dynamic, deadline-driven and high-profile role and able to work effectively on multiple, concurrent projects

  • Ability to lead and manage an international and distributed team in a changing environment

  • University degree or equivalent work experience

  • Excellent communicator; both verbally and written with strong presentation skills

  • Ability to travel up to 50% at times
