We currently have an opening for a Network Administrator. This role is based out of our Oakville office, Ontario. This role reports to the Network Operations Centre Team Lead.

Job Summary
We are looking for an expert Network Administrator who wants to step into new advanced timelines and have the satisfaction of knowing your role is essential to a successful manufacturing enterprise. This role will balance your daily work between multiple initiatives in a constantly changing environment where projects include both North American and global footprints.
The Network Administrator will be responsible for deploying and maintaining all telecommunications network within our North America backend infrastructure. This includes implementation of business projects, ensuring security of infrastructure, maintaining corporate and industrial installation, as well participating in daily activities that strive to improve the existing North American network infrastructure.
Principal Responsibilities
  • As part of a project group, produce detailed work plans and proceed with the execution/realization of regional and global projects.
  • Install, configure, and maintain backend network services, equipment, and devices such as switches, routers, firewall, Wi-Fi, etc.
  • Collaborating with peers to complete daily operations and special projects.
  • Updating and maintaining network equipment.
  • Coordinating with vendors to resolve technical problems with network equipment and software.
  • Monitor network security.
  • Travel to our different North American locations to implement new technology and infrastructure solutions, occasionally.
  • Document network configurations, and implementations tasks.
  • Support and implement change management strategies.
  • Monitor system performance and implement performance optimization.
  • Work closely with Technology Architects and Systems Analysts to implement, maintain, and support infrastructure and network solutions.
  • Sharing knowledge, discoveries, ideas, challenges, and solutions with peers, Managers, and Executives
  • When vital, ensure emergency operational support outside office hours.
Qualifications & experience

Education & Certificates
  • College degree in Computer Science, network administration, system administration or equivalent.
  • Technical certifications are an asset (Cisco CCNA, ITIL, CISSP, etc.)

Technical Skills
  • Proven ability as Network Administrator, 5 – 7 years of experience in the field.
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols and standards: IP and Ethernet technologies, routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) and service quality parameters (QoS).
  • Knowledge of telecommunication industry in the following areas: LAN, WAN, VPN, IP Telephony, network security (firewall, web filtering, IPS/IDS), wireless technology, and load balancing.
  • Experience with structured cabling design and implementations, an asset (BICSI).
  • Knowledge of network technologies in multisite environment.
  • Experience with network monitoring solutions
  • Knowledge of enterprise security environments.
  • Experience with industrial networking is an asset (IT / OT)

Travel
10% of the time; Employee may need to occasionally visit other IPEX locations.
