About The Role
To provide innovative technical solutions with expertise in architecture of infrastructure systems, hosting, networking, and cloud integration. To document and maintain a library of technical assets, lifecycle, and architecture documentation to support new and current deployments with the goal of continuous improvement. This position is accountable for Oversees data communications within the regional network; implements, configures, coordinates, controls, maintains, supports, and monitors usage of the network; maintains and repairs network components; provides end-user support for network and hardware issues; consults with other staff as a technical resource for client departments during the planning and implementation of custom networks. Position is also responsible to monitor and maintain Security of network/ domain. The Security Analyst is a front line Operations Center role, supporting our security services around the organization. The SA is an internal triage analyst who assesses inbound security data and communications, dealing with straightforward tasks and escalating to management as needed.
Hybrid Role: Requires in-office attendance per manager’s discretion.
What You’ll Do
- The Network Analyst assists in designing, implementing, and maintaining the networks by managing network IP addresses, communicating network information and requirements to connect hosts onto the network, and installing, upgrading, and maintaining network routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, wireless controllers, other network devices and servers.
- Contribute to the successful implementation of architectures, frameworks, and IT standards.
- Maintains and manages IP addresses, DHCP servers, Domain Name Services (DNS), Radius, and other servers and software systems on both physical and hypervisor server environments.
- Maintains the integrity of the network by installing, upgrading, and maintaining network routers, switches, wireless, VPN, firewalls, and other devices at current operating system levels as provided by the manufacturer, working with vendors to diagnose and resolve network problems, operating and configuring protocol analyzers to diagnose problems, analyzing captured data using network protocols to determine problems, and using network monitoring software to detect network conditions requiring corrective action or performance tuning Assists with the integration, maintenance, and problem resolution of network services and wiring infrastructures by working with other networking and telecommunications staff, user support entities, vendors, and end-users including University contractors and guests.
- Ensures accurate records are kept of network components, maintenance activities, network connections, accounts, and inventory.
- Programs network applications as needed such as web, network monitoring, bandwidth utilization, general data collection, reporting, and automated response to abnormal or undesirable network conditions.
- Helps to ensure the availability of computer resources by assisting with disaster prevention and recovery efforts caused by events like power outages, hardware failures, etc.
- Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
- Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as directed by the Director of Networking.
- Contributes to the overall success of Information Services by performing all other essential duties as assigned.
- Candidate should provide all the support to the IT team to understand the security requirements. They must perform security engineering activities through a Lean and Agile approach. The professionals must conduct threat and vulnerability assessments such as DDOS assessment and security analysis. They must have a base security solution in place while developing and delivering the general risk and compliance practices. The Security Specialist has to develop data protection, privacy and audit practices while establishing gap analysis and mitigation methodologies. They have to act as a technical interface when providing technical solutions to end users.
- Position involves evaluating log files from different sources such as network traffic logs, firewall logs, Domain Name System (DNS) and several others to locate the possible threats to network security. The professional is responsible for gathering network intrusion artifacts that include domains, Uniform Resource Identifiers (URIs) and certificates. They have to utilize the discovered data to assist in the mitigation of potential CND hunts and incidents.
- Candidate must evaluate the identified malicious network activity to understand the effects on the system and information. They must maintain a record of network-based tactics, techniques, and procedures used by an attacker to gain unauthorized system access. The professionals must keep track of the CND incidents from the beginning through final resolution. They have to conduct real-time CND incident handling to offer necessary support to the deployable incident response teams.
- Strive to excel by meeting or exceeding the Service Level Objectives, Job logging and recording all calls and related activity in Gateway’s IT Service Management tool, ServiceNow.
- Manage 4th level support escalations (to Original Equipment Manufacturer)
- Work within tight timelines with awareness of impacts on the organization
What We’re Expecting You to Have
- 2-5 years of experience as a network analyst, Security Analyst or similar.
- A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or management information systems would be advantageous.
- In-depth knowledge of hardware, software, and network installation techniques.
- Exceptional ability to provide network support and resolve errors.
- Advanced knowledge of network setup and security.
- Ability to keep up with advancements in IT network technologies.
- Expert level knowledge in areas of data, security, infrastructure, and application architecture
- Extensive experience in Barracuda firewalls, Cisco/Meraki, AP, Juniper, FortiNET & Unified network.
- Experience in security basics , Malware protection, proxy and content filtering, security auditing.
- Proficiency in documenting processes and monitoring performance metrics.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Experience with ITIL (Optional)
- Good understanding and applied experience in Microsoft tools
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experienced of working with dispersed teams across geographically and culturally diverse locations
- Demonstrated experience in contributing to process improvement and efficiencies.
