SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Reporting to the Supervisor, Network & Security, the Network Analyst II troubleshoots, supports, helps to maintain infrastructure and operational network systems to meet the functional objectives of the business. This includes IP Telephony (VoIP), mobile computing/wireless technology, network infrastructure, internet services, and disaster recovery across the City’s divisions. The principle focus of this role is on the provision of day-to-day operational support with some project activity as required.
The Network Analyst II supports, the City’s converged network which includes LAN/WAN/wireless and voice operations by working with network facility and hardware/software vendors to ensure timely problem resolution. Utilizes network management applications to identify network faults, to ensure access to data, telecommunications to customers, and to ensure connectivity to networked sites.
GENERAL DUTIES
Assists with installations, troubleshooting network systems (including wireless) to meet the functional objectives of the business, including assisting with system upgrades. The converged voice and data network includes servers, switches, routers and other computing network devices.
Provides second-level support to the user community for infrastructure related issues on referral from the service desk and in support of IS staff.
Assists in reviewing issues and problem logs; offers support relating to infrastructure and network operations, initiates and follows through with resolution. Maintains communications with IS and business leaders on network availability and outages.
Administers changes upon submissions through the service desk, as incident resolution, project, or standard service requests to the telephony, wireless and network infrastructure.
Maintains network cabling infrastructure including site wiring, T1, Ethernet and fibre cabling, localized UPS.
Assists in developing and maintaining support and end-user documentation on various technologies and systems supported.
Utilizes appropriate diagnostic tools to troubleshoot network, voice and wireless performance.
Assists in Maintaining authorized users, issue user ids, manages password protection, setup file and application and printer permissions for new users.

QUALIFICATIONS
University Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Technology or related discipline.
One (1) to five (3) years experience in infrastructure/network environments in administration and support.
Experience supporting and maintaining network components including switches, routers and wireless controllers using Cisco IOS.
Experience supporting and maintaining a Cisco Unified Communications environment.
Demonstrated skills in analysis, planning and logical troubleshooting.
Cisco training and/or certification an asset.
Knowledge and understanding of project management principles.
Working knowledge of networking systems (DNS, WINS, Active Directory), protocols, and standards such as Ethernet, LAN, WAN, DSL, TCP/IP, T1, 802.11x and Fibre Optics.
Working knowledge of client/server and operating systems including with Windows Operating System (XP, Server 2003/2008 and working knowledge of Linux).
Experience supporting and maintaining anti-virus software, firewalls, intrusion detection systems and other network security measures.
Knowledge of virtual technologies, including VMware.
Knowledge of email technologies, including SMTP and Exchange Server.
Knowledge of relational database management system software (ORACLE, SQL Server along with Microsoft Access) and SQL (Structured Query Language).
Knowledge of the ITIL standard.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
Proven leadership, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to make sound and logical judgments.
Strong interpersonal, customer service skills, written, and oral communication skills
Must possess a Class G Drivers’ Licence.
