The Network and Telecommunications Systems Manager is responsible for developing, estimating, implementing and maintaining comprehensive network and telecommunication solutions in support of the company’s WAN/LAN/wireless, corporate and call center communications equipment and cellular networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversight of engineering, configuration, installation, maintenance and upgrade of the company’s connectivity requirements and firewall infrastructure.
- Manage a staff of network technicians to meet daily operational needs to include;
– Providing technical support to various customers and departments/users with regards to network connectivity.
– Reviewing anomalies that are broad and potentially service impacting.
– Researching, evaluating and recommending hardware and software solutions.
– Acting as an escalation point for network-related customer issues.
– Implementing and supporting network security solutions, such as firewalls and VPN appliances, in accordance with best practices and company policies
- Work in conjunction with Applications Dept. and Infrastructure Architecture in assessing requirements relating to network bandwidth requirements to make sure performance is optimized
- Manage successful implementation of all networking projects and develop and enforce technology operating standards.
- Oversight of engineering, configuration, installation, maintenance and upgrade of the company’s telecommunications requirements for corporate, call center and cellular.
- Management of third party vendor contracts for equipment and operational support.
- Coordinate monitoring of infrastructure, circuits, and server performance through internal and external sources, including managing vendor performance, selecting tools used internally that provide the best ROI and reviewing processes and procedures to validate statistics provided
- Interview, hire, manage, and evaluate performance of members of Network department
- Act as change advocate to insure all aspects of the network are operating in accordance with generally accepted best practice.
- Create detailed networked server documentation, including physical diagrams, logical diagrams, IP address schemes and asset management and database designs.
- Participate in technical design reviews and recommend solutions and improvements
- Directly supervises employees and other functions such as interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
- Actively administer the Change Management process to ensure compliance, and all changes to the production environment have been tested, documented and approved prior to implementation.
- Play a major role in the design and implementation related to business continuity and disaster recovery.
- Help ensure the growth and success of network team members by providing mentoring and training on technology topics, and in the established processes, policies, and procedures.
- Prepare annual capital and operating budgets, and participate in managing to plans.
- Evaluate and recommend infrastructure components, software, management tools and consulting resources.
- Actively manage vendor relationship and contracts and serve as a liaison with customers, vendors and other third party providers
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Minimum five (5) years experience network productions and related technologies to include switches, routers, vpn appliances, wireless and cellular.
- Minimum five (5) years experience responsible over site of telecommunications related equipment and applications in support of call center, IVR and call reporting.
- At least 3 years of experience managing a technology-related departmental function
- Experience with and solid working understanding of Cisco switches, routers, IOS software and diagnostics.
- Systems knowledge such as: Cisco (ASA, PIX, Router), Foundry(Switches), Aruba(Wireless), Checkpoint(Firewall), Monitoring (WUG)
- Networking knowledge such as: L3 and L2 technologies, VPN(ASA, PIX), OSPF, Spanning Tree, T1, DS3
- Client/Server diagnostic support skills to understand how applications communicate within LAN/WAN/MAN networks and over the Internet
- Effectively communicating technical information in an understandable manner to a variety of internal and external stakeholders both verbally and in writing
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of VPN configuration
- Experience with LAN/WAN based equipment and security systems preferred
- Experience with Avaya Call Manager, AES, IQ, CCE platforms.
