about the role
- Identify the use cases that should be demonstrated.
- Construct and coordinate the specification document of the QKDN manager with other systems planned for the demos.
- Contribute to the development of the management software focusing on the pieces required to demonstrate the use cases.
- Contribute to the final demo of management of a QKD network.
- Contribute to the choice of the software framework (e.g. opendaylight) for the development work, according to the final target.
- Coordinate the development with a development team, elaborate detailed specifications of both the functional blocks and their interfaces.
about you
As an interface between the developers’ teams and the QKD network team, the candidate must have skills in those two domains:
- Knowledge on networks, network control and automation (Ansible).
- Knowledge of Optical Network architecture and Implementation, knowledge on optical network control/management/orchestration.
- Knowledge of SDN networks, network orchestration.
- Knowledge on software development for control/management of networks.
- Experience of building system description for network virtualization projects, previous participation in network automation/orchestration projects with direct cooperation with developers’ teams.
Would be a plus:
- Knowledge on development frameworks (Opendaylight , Maven) and Java (>17).
- The expected software should be modular so a module orchestration is expected: knowledge on OSGi (Karaf).
- Knowledge on API (REST, NETCONF, CLI).
- Knowledge on data modeling (Yang, Yaml): can write a data model.
- Knowledge on git and devops tools (gitlab).
- Knowledge on unit testing (Junit).
- Basic knowledge on network administration and dockers.
- Programming in Python.
- The experience in integration would be a plus.

The Software Infrastructure Skill Centre is leading digital transformation in telecommunication environment. In particular, team focuses on development of prototype systems for automated orchestration of Virtual Network Functions (VNF) and Cloud-Native Network Function (CNF). We research among open-source/vendors solutions and develop different cloud infrastructure projects by applying additional functionalities for telco industry needs.
Currently we are looking for a Network Architect that will contribute to France QCI project (co-funded by the European Commission) that aim to produce a target architecture for the management software of a QKD (Quantum Key Distribution) network. The architecture will include functional requirements and interfaces between the different constituting blocks. The work will consist in building a demo of this manager and coordinate development works.
