Network Consultant

This position participates in the design, installation, configuration, and performance analysis of AEP’s intermediate and enterprise wireless/wired telecommunications networks and systems. Possesses an intermediate understanding of communications technologies and demonstrates the ability to perform on routine tasks. Performs project management duties on routine assignments independently. Analyzes, troubleshoots, and resolves network problems of moderate complexity.

Job Responsibilities:

• Understand and follow policies, practices, procedures, standards, and rules of the company and complies with the regulations and procedures required by external agencies.
• Coordinate and monitor work activities, using approved applications and tools, for projects as required to perform routine engineering tasks.
• Prepare cost estimates for the routine engineering assignments using established guidelines.
• Perform documentation of project work using established guidelines.
• Learn company’s organizational structure and the specific role and responsibility of their individual organizational unit.
• Adhere to budgeting and approval processes as part of annual planning and project planning. Perform routine engineering activity with minimum direction from higher level employees.
• Utilize basic techniques to perform analysis associated with the resolution of routine technical problems.
• Apply economic analysis techniques in project development and approval.
• Demonstrate knowledge of company networks, components, and facilities by enabling more efficient and comprehensive responses to projects and problems.
• Follow the standard workflow for routine engineering projects.
