About This Role

Managing the design, build and deployment activities of Virtualised platforms within BT Mobile Core is critical in supporting our 30m customers. It’s recognised adoption of Cloud solutions leading to a simple and agile delivery approach is crucial to the continued success of the BT Mobile brands. Cloud environments will provide the bedrock for a successful future network, and enable the protection and enhancement of our customers experience

You’ll Have The Following Responsibilities

• Manager of Design/Build/deliver Team of Mobile Networks virtualised estates, working across teams of technical design authorities to ensure virtualised platforms deliver on the requirements of projects to ensure they can enhance the end customer experience.
• Team Manager accountable for the planning and delivery of necessary technical solutions to enable the achievement of the wider Cloud Core Services goals, managing Team demand, supporting project deliveries through alignment of resource.
• Act as a single point of contact and ownership in relation to those virtual platforms accountable for.
• Support Senior Manager and Principal Designers in building platform roadmaps, ensuring that roadmaps are delivered in a timely manner.
• Accountable to develop processes and automation to drive overall engagement across peer team(s).

Skills Required

You’ll have the following skills & experience

• Considered authority on Design/Build/Delivery in Cloud Technology
• Good communication skills with the ability to broker agreement across team(s) and presenting & communicating information to both technical & non-technical personnel
• With team Senior Manager and team Principals, drive team technology story
• Knowledge of industry best practice methodologies for analysing, defining and documenting the link between input business requirements and output technical solutions
• Understanding of project management techniques and tools
• Maintain high level of domain expertise, keeping abreast of the developments within the telecoms market, to ensure continued delivery to time, cost and quality in the face of both internal and external change

Experience Required

• Experience of using or designing virtulised solutions e.g. either VMware, Openstack, MicroSoft, Citrix systems
• Understanding of deploying services onto virtualised environments
• Track record of on-time, on-budget and to-specification delivery based on internal policies and procedures, with the ability to manage the end-to-end delivery of virtualised infrastructure solutions
• Experience of managing relationships with suppliers and third-parties, of product/feature selection and of delivering those products into a production environment
• Experience in mobile/fixed telecommunications industry in the role of a designer with business-critical, high-availability / high-throughput systems and networks
