The Network Support Engineer will apply training and experience to troubleshoot and resolve network equipment issues, as well as to support infrastructure maintenance and upgrades. The incumbent will take ownership of support request tickets escalated by Global Support Desk, maintaining regular and professional communication with the requesting user throughout the resolution process.
The Network Support Engineer reviews dashboards, reports, and other collected data to proactively identify potential connectivity issues, and takes appropriate action. Review of connectivity data is also scrutinized regularly to identify possible improvements to infrastructure configurations.
This role is highly technical, and involves regular hands-on work with routers, switches, access points, load balancers, and other infrastructure hardware. At times, the incumbent may be required to coordinate with local telecommunications companies in our Country Offices around the world to assist with problem resolution, service upgrades, etc.
This role reports to the Senior Manager, Network Infrastructure
Responsibilities:
40% – Networks Infrastructure Support including, VPNs, routers and other connectivity/Com services
Tier 3 support for the resolution of all customer support issues for the technical infrastructure , participate of the implementation of CARE’s ICT Infrastructure Operations Services strategy across CARE offices. Work very close with regional Infrastructure manager maintaining , troubleshooting and supporting CARE Standard
30% Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
Using CARE’s monitoring tools, monitor critical and non critical network services ,report and take the appropriated proactive action coordinating with the regional Manager or local Country IT manager to resolve or improve network performance and efficiency.
30% Implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
Provide support to CARE’s Country Offices on new implementing infrastructure technology or any upgrade strategy base on the CARE global standards . Work with Cyber-security and Regional Infrastructure manager to support any security , infrastructure Initiative to improve Security and efficiency of CARE global infrastructure
Requirements:
- – Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- -Through understanding of Network Connectivity, including subnetting, segmentation, and VPNs
- -Thorough knowledge of DNS, both local and global. Specific knowledge of DNS connectivity with Office 365
- -Strong working knowledge of Cisco routers and switches
- -Ability and experience optimizing network performance and monitoring network activity. Prior experience with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds a plus.
- -Ability to support and administer aspects of WAN and LAN projects including planning, testing and performance tuning for a global network.
- -Strong knowledge of Fortinet router/firewall products.
- -Ability to backup/restore device configurations
- -Experience troubleshooting performance/connectivity issues at the packet level (e.g. using WireShark).
- -Experience monitoring, supporting and troubleshooting Wi-fi networks for offices of up to 200 people.
Desired
- CCNA (or higher/equivalent)
- Certification in FortiNet
- Working knowledge of ITIL framework
- Experience with security device installations, configuration and troubleshooting (e. g., firewall, UTM, IDS, etc.)
- Experience with VSAT technologies
- Experience with public cloud providers and services.

Pay: $50.00 – $55.00 per hour
