Summary:
To provide onsite support for design validation and clarification during construction and retrofits of data centers. Perform various aspects of maintaining the engineering drawings, blueprints, and other documents related to the equipment and facilities, both hard copy and electronic for data centers. Understand construction timelines and network infrastructure site and global designs and facilitate global standardization during construction and full data center lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work cross functionally with project management, network engineering, and data center connectivity to generate infrastructure design packages
  • Work cross functionally with construction, design architects, and contractors to validate cabling infrastructure builds
  • Provide guidance during deployment activities and retrofits in our data centers in the areas of facility power, cooling, rack layout and cable management
  • Maintain technical and training documentation, develop automation and tooling as needed
  • Provide on-site expertise for questions around infrastructure design
  • Represent our client in site construction meetings understanding design intent and reviewing changes that may conflict with that design intent
  • Participate and review changes using established change management processes
  • Responsible for gathering, reviewing and interpreting various data sources for comparison and validation of fiber optic network
  • Validates design drawings by identifying, isolating, and resolving performance problems in relation to data entry for fiber optic network software
  • Understanding of databases, queries, spreadsheets and schematic drawings

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or engineering or 2 to 4 years of telecommunication industry experience related to either inside or outside plant operations

– 2+ years of experience in structured cabling and fiber optic infrastructure – application and limitations within the datacenter space

  • Basic knowledge of IP routing/switching technologies and protocols or long-haul optical networks (DWDM).
  • Understanding of fiber optic network physical connectivity
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools and the ability to function independently of supervision
  • Maintain technical and training documentation, develop automation and tooling as needed

Software:

  • Project Management

  • AutoCAD (a plus but not required)
  • MS Office (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat)
