Description:

The bank is growing rapidly through acquisitions and needs to add an additional Network Engineer to their team. They are looking for a Sr level jack-of-all Network Engineer to help support day to day operational and project based work. The current IT is around 25. The network engineering team supports wireless, data, and voice- everything except for firewalls which are supported by their security team.

Duties – troubleshooting network ticket request, rolling out SD-WAN, checking for slow WAN links/clearing bottlenecks, replacing bad networking equipment in bank branches, troubleshooting and setting up Polycom VOIP equipment, working with 1 other engineer, rerouting DIDs, and changing names on displays

This person can sit REMOTE, however, they will be traveling to various bank sites 20% of the time so MUST BE LOCAL preferably to the west coast of Florida. Any travel will be day trips and mileage is reimbursed.

The Network Engineer supports the design and implementation of data communications or telecommunications networks of the bank. This individual is also responsible for configuration, installation, testing and maintenance of LANs/WLANs/WANs using switching, routing and monitoring technologies. The successful candidate has the ability to work both individually and as part of a team. In addition, the Network Engineer is responsible for performing the following tasks:

  • Configuring and monitoring the installation of communications circuits (e.g. CAT6, fiber, etc.)
  • Responsible for installation, administration, and testing of network devices, operating system software, routers, switches, cabling etc. Network devices: primarily Cisco
  • Conducting short and long-term plans to meet business requirements
  • Performing hardware/software analyses to provide comparative data of performance characteristics and suitability within the existing systems environment
  • vendor equipment bake-off
  • Generating network monitoring/performance reports, for LAN/WAN utilization
  • Perform facility surveys for network communications and make recommendations for the layout and location of network components, equipment, cabling, and wiring.
  • Operations and maintenance experience with Cisco routers and switches
  • Experience with dealing with service requests; change requests and ticketing systems
  • Maintain records of work completed and in-progress; and updates network documentation to record installations, upgrades, configurations.
  • Travel throughout the state of Florida to various bank site locations may be required. Travel will vary as needed.
  • On call rotation is split among all LAN/WAN technicians.
  • Ability to troubleshoot LAN, WAN, QoS and Multicast traffic
  • Experience with the Cisco wireless access points and WLAN controllers: administration, configuration, troubleshooting.

Specialized Experience: The proposed candidate must have at least three (3) years of progressive experience in planning, designing, implementation, and analyzing network or telecommunications networks. This individual must have experience with network analysis/management tools and techniques and be familiar with Personal Computers (PCs) in a client/server environment. This individual must also be familiar with IT technology and long distance and local carrier management.

Certification: a current CCNA is required, Practical / Junior-level Cisco network engineer level Cisco networking; routing and configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting.

Operations and Maintenance; service requests / change requests; ticketing system

  • Incident Management
  • On-Call rotation participation (weekly)
  • Possess a thorough understanding of LAN/WAN architectures and designs, cloud networking and mobile networking

List of Tools; Hands-on experience / familiarity with SolarWinds Orion, Cisco IOS, routing and switching. Nice to have: Cisco ACI and VeloCloud SD-WAN experience.
