We are growing! UPN is looking to hire a Network Market Engineer for our Network Operations group in San Antonio, TX. This position will focus on market systems with planning, engineering, deployment, life cycle, standards, topologies, testing, and Tier II support as well as support Sales and Sales Engineering for designing network solutions for customers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Build electronics estimates for potential new customers.
  • Assist market Engineering teams with provisioning new circuits for customers.
  • Support Sales and Sales Engineering for designing network solutions for customers.
  • Perform and or assist with maintenance of network equipment during scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Assist market leaders in development, planning and grooming of the market network.
  • Assist teams with Inventory Management for new projects, spares/maintenance, and return/RMA activities.
  • Create and maintain network documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years in the Telecom engineering, outside plant, or operations field.
  • Holding or working towards data certifications preferred.
  • Creating Technical Designs and Documentation of customer solutions.
  • Knowledge of WDM based Optical Transport Networks (Experience with Cisco 15454 platforms a plus).
  • Knowledge of cross connect solutions and configurations.
  • Knowledge of modern data networks and technologies used in a Service Provider environment (IPv4, IPv6, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, L2VPN, etc…)
  • Good understanding of network monitoring practices in support of a customer SLA and for internal capacity planning needs
  • Working knowledge of various monitoring tools (Wireshark, Solarwinds, Syslog, etc.)
  • Computer skills necessary in Word, Excel, Visio, SecureCRT, Putty, SQL.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge.

Pay: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year

  • OSP: 3 years (Preferred)
