Network Solution / OSP Cost And Planning Engineer (Fully Remote)

Purpose of Position: As part of a team, will work cross-functionally as required to develop, deploy, and maintain the products and services offered by the company. Interacts with internal groups and external customers to ensure our products and services are performing as designed. Work within capital and operations budgets to ensure projects remain on scope and within budget. Follows company policy and department guidelines to support and successfully complete development and lifecycle maintenance of network plans, policies, and procedures following engineering/architecture design principles.

Position’s Customer(s): Multiple Business Units throughout the company, third-party vendors, and the company’s subsidiaries.

DUTIES PERFORMED AT ALL LEVELS:

Essential Duties of All Levels in the Position:

1. Estimating and Preplan Engineering

a. Accountable for the “Conceive and Validate” estimates and Engineering

i. Coordinates closely with Intake to develop Class 5 and Class 4 estimates

ii. Works with the business sales teams to develop customer solutions leveraging standard designs and specifications

iii. Develops handoff packages to gate validate and handoff to Delivery in the Plan phase

b. Coordinates with other departments in a continual improvement process to evaluate and improve our templates and estimates to improve the speed, consistency, and estimating accuracy over time

Additional Job Requirements: At an advance level, requires a high level of specific discipline expertise and ability to make technical decisions independently on significant problems. Work without supervision with latitude for independent judgement, provide technical direction and resolution. Receives clear direction on assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solution; reviews and provide final engineering design specifications and service requirements. Must have knowledge of other engineering disciplines; will be expected to perform most complex and diverse design, plans, analysis, and implementation under deadlines and operating constraints. Expected to provide technical leadership, oversight, and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.

Additional Duties:

• Works with engineering and network operations support teams to resolve any hardware/technical issues and implements changes.
• Works with customer care teams to monitor, identify, and resolve customer issues in a timely fashion.
• Works with cross functional teams to define project requirements and planning necessary to deliver quality products on time.
• Provides technical content used to create marketing/sales collateral.

Job Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Advanced level knowledge of engineering concepts, design principles, and math calculations.
• Demonstrated and documented expertise in design, implementation, editing and support.
• Excellent time management skills to manage complex projects on time and within budget.
• Experience with configuration, routing, switches, within a Network Telecommunications environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment, professionally and support junior engineers.
• Highly intuitive analytic, strategic, interpersonal critical/creativity thinking skills are necessary.
• Innovative and problem solver
• Excellent capability in using Microsoft Office tools; Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, etc.
• Self-directed and motivated, highly focused on the company and departmental goals.
• A collaborator that works toward a common goal.
• Ability to tackle the most difficult engineering issues presented to the engineer. A proven leader for large complex projects or initiatives. The ability to guide others/teams in the selection of new technologies.

Years of Experience required to meet minimum qualifications: Minimum of ten years’ experience in the relevant filed. Experience within a telecommunication’s or like industry valued.

Level of Education required to meet minimum qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or related field is required. Or in addition, a combination of relevant work and/or education/certifications sufficient to perform the duties of the job may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis.
