Mascon, based in Salmon Arm, has been a cable operator since 1983. We joined the TELUS team in January, 2017 and continue to operate and sell internet and TV over our cable network in 14+ communities throughout B.C. We are a highly diverse team providing the ultimate in leading-edge fiber, hybrid fiber coax and fixed wireless (wHSIA) connectivity throughout our rural systems in Alberta, Mainland BC, Vancouver Island and Haida Gwaii. What you’ll do
As a Network Specialist I, you will play a pivotal role in responding and resolving escalating network related problems:
- Helping to solve technology issues, configuring equipment, monitoring our network, and working with the team to track and manage reliability metrics.
- Investigate and implement solutions for network infrastructure, network monitoring capabilities, procedures and processes
- Participate in the planning, coordination, and implementation of project requirements which may involve providing input into the technical design.
- Ensuring all security policies are enforced for network security, integrity and confidentiality
- Identify potential future network impacts and develop strategies an action plans to address through problem management in adherence to change management processes
- Collaborate with cross functional teams and peers to review outages, remedial changes, related to network outages impacting customer services
What you bring
- Unparalleled interpersonal communication skills
- Knowledge of network technology, architecture and elements, and their inter-workings
- Demonstrated effective decision-making skills while under limited supervision
- Ability to maintain a high level of performance under pressure of time constraints
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license (driver’s abstract will be required) and be OK to travel in company provided vehicle as some overnight trips will be required
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting network issues
Great-to-haves
- CCNA certification
- Technical or university degree in Information Technology, networking or telecom is an asset
