Burnaby School District
The Burnaby School District invites applications for a full-time Network Support Technician. Reporting to the Network &
Security Manager of Information Technology Services and working in a team environment, the Network Support
Technician (NSTECH) is a senior level position supporting installation, maintenance and operation of network systems and
a variety of other software and hardware. The NSTECH is an escalation point for the troubleshooting, maintenance and
repair of all technology across the network. Network Support Technicians research, design, test new systems and modify
existing systems as required. The NSTECH provides project planning and project management support to the Information
Technology Managers. Successful candidate will demonstrate initiative and ability to work independently.
The successful candidate will have the following skills:
1. Graduated from a recognized technical program in computer studies.
2. Ability to install, configure and troubleshoot products in at least one or two of the following products / technologies
is an asset:
- VoIP / Telecom: Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco, Mitel or similar.
- Wireless: Aruba, Cisco Meraki or similar.
- Security: Fortinet, Palo Alto or similar.
- Networking: HPE / Aruba, Cisco or similar.
- Structured cabling: Belden, Nexans or similar.
- UPS: APC, Eaton or similar UPS products.
- Current certifications in any of the above is a plus.
3. Working knowledge of:
- OS: Windows, Linux & Mac Operating System
- Virtualization: VMWare, Hyper-V.
- Backup: Commvault, Veeam, etc.
- Windows Active directory, Exchange, IBM School connect, Printer queue management, cloud technologies,
Helpdesk software, web servers, working in a data center and other standard enterprise IT technologies.
4. Minimum of four years related work experience.
5. Willing to work in tandem with our other support personnel in a fast paced and self-managed environment.
The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal, communication and organization skills. Experience working in
an educational setting is an asset.
