Job Summary:

The Network Administrator is responsible for administering and maintaining company systems, networks and functions within IT infrastructure and security. This role will provide support and assistance in resolving Help Desk cases related to any item or function associated with but not limited to network, servers, laptops, printers, and terminal stations. Monitoring the health of base level systems and looking to resolve any errors or discrepancies that may cause a failure or inhibit performance in the future.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Systems & Network

  • Ensure maximum availability of all network and communications systems. These include all on-premise & cloud (Azure) networks and related hardware and software, phone systems and wireless phone services
  • Responsible for the backup, restoration, and overall integrity of all digital data. o Perform routine maintenance on various hardware and software applications. Update computers and servers as needed. Tr
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve Infrastructure problems
  • Handle the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Infrastructure components. o Monitor network and system activity and report on infrastructure KPIs.

Security

  • Support administration of IT Security policies, procedures and tasks.
  • Ensure systems are monitored for anomalies and possible cyber-attacks.
  • Respond to cyber-attacks by blocking the source of attack, mitigate future attacks and reporting on incidents o Maintain proper documentation of systems and processes required by NIST (NationalInstitute of Standards and Technology) o
  • Conduct audits of systems and users to ensure data retention and security policies are active and working.
  • Ensure all security policies are being adhered to and enforced o Continuously improve cyber defense policies by looking for innovative solutions to protect company data and assets.

Maintenance & Issue Resolution

  • Coordinate with vendors and other IT personnel to resolve major hardware/software problems or defective products.
  • Track and schedule routine maintenance on equipment with outside vendors
  • Provide procurement, maintenance and support services for all network and telecommunications infrastructures
  • Support end users, including system and network troubleshooting and training
  • Field/resolving incoming support requests from end users via office visit, telephone, and e-mail in a courteous manner
  • Following standard Help Desk operating procedures, maintaining records of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial actions taken.

Beneficial Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure
  • Linux Administrator
  • Knowledge of Palo Alto Firewall
  • Understanding of PowerShell
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff
  • Ability to multi-task and communicate technical concepts to end-users
  • Ability to quickly grasp a detailed understanding of procedures and automated systems and desire to learn

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 12 years of IT experience, with a focus in server hardware and networked systems, printers, and related network hardware in a business environment. o Cisco and Network Programming experience o Experience in zonal network architecture o Strong networking knowledge and experience commensurate to CCNA, CCNP skill level.
  • Infrastructure management – Support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internets, Intranets and VPNs o Physical infrastructure Maintenance – wiring, switches, routers, etc. o Printer Management
  • Strong working knowledge of multiple hardware/software platforms and applications
  • Windows Server & Linux operating systems Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Exchange Administration, Microsoft Active Directory
  • Experience managing virtual environment – experience in VMWare, vSphere, Load Management
  • System Security (Firewalls, Anti-Spam, Virus Protection)
  • Solid understanding of data communication principles, including network security
  • Disaster Recovery Support / Backup Retention
  • Health Monitoring / Event Log Debugging
  • Strong customer service skills & interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team environment

Work Environment:

This role operates in an office environment with controlled temperatures. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computer, scanner, printer, telephone, photocopier, and filing cabinets. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This role will also work with a myriad of IT equipment, including servers, laptop computers, etc. There may be times when this individual will have to wire areas of the facility for networking purposes.

This is a regular, full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday between the hours of 5:00 am to 5:00 pm. Overtime and weekend/holiday hours will be mandatory when deemed necessary to meet the needs of the business.
