About the Division:

The Electronic Services Division provides statewide public safety telecommunications, land mobile radio, microwave, and engineering services to the WSP, its partner agencies, and customers.

Duties

This is what you will do:
This position supports and maintains the WSP statewide data network as well as network connections to partner agencies (federal, state, and local). The position normally works with a senior network staff member who oversees work methods, documentation standards, and task completion. This position works closely with technical and project staff in the agency’s Information Technology and Communication Divisions.

Some of what you will do:

  • Responding to and resolving service outages, processing change requests, and correcting problems which may occur within the statewide infrastructure
  • Installing, configuring, testing new hardware to replace legacy equipment to meet the continuing needs of the Washington State Patrol
  • Maintaining proficiency of industry best practices and enterprise cabling standards
  • Responding to WSP staff and WSP business groups for common, routine telephone service changes


Travel:

This position will be required to travel as part of their work to access various work environments including data centers and remote communications sites. Will be required to travel statewide for agency and division functions, training, and project support. Travel includes typical rural and urban environments and may require 4-wheel drive utilization on unimproved roads. This travel may result in overnight stays.

Emergencies:
Personnel may be required to work off-business hours and must be able to respond to duty station in a timely manner when alerted of work emergencies.

Qualifications

Required:
  • High school graduation, GED, or equivalent education.
  • One year IT work experience in an enterprise network environment
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid, unrestricted Washington State driver’s license

Top Candidates will have the following experience:
  • Two year AA degree
  • Cisco (CCENT, CCNA, CCNP) certifications
  • CompTIA Network+ certification
