The role:
As a Network Technician, you will support the stable operation of the in-house computer network. This includes planning, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links while ensuring minimal network downtime. You will also diagnose, resolve, and document hardware and software network problems promptly and accurately, and provide end-user training and support when needed.
What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field is required.
  • Six (6) years of experience with computer hardware, support, software installations, Wide Area Networks, and Local Area Networks is required.
  • Ability to set up and install new hardware such as PCs, printers, scanners, etc.
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills to solve problems.
  • Ability to convey information effectively through speech and writing skills.

What you will do:

  • Provide all routine and periodic activities which will assure YSS that all installed computer and telecommunication systems will be available for use, and accurately record required information on newly installed systems.
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user workstation hardware, software, networked peripheral devices, cabling, and networking hardware and software products.
  • Maintain servers, including e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
  • Assist in maintaining security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Assist in maintaining all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, and UPSs.
  • Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
  • Receive and respond to online trouble tickets, incoming calls, and/or e-mails regarding network connectivity problems.
  • Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex network problems for a variety of end users, and recommend and implement corrective hardware and software solutions, including off-site repair.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory.
  • Prepare, maintain, and adhere to procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring network data.
  • Maintain help desk support.
  • Perform server and security audits.
  • Perform system backups and recovery.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Starting at $18/hour
