The Network Transport Architect will report to the Director, Core Technology Architecture Planning. The Core Technology Planning teams are accountable for delivering a system level view including platform evolution, network service integration, core network resiliency modeling along with capital cost consolidation and optimization.

As the Network Transport Architect, you will be involved in activities related to Core Network technology roadmaps. Working with various Engineering teams, you will consolidate an end to end view of network architecture with aligned connectivity between the Optical Transport Networks, IP Core Networks along with Access Networks, generating 3 year Network architecture roadmaps accompanying 3 year network capital plans.

In addition, you will be involved with 3rd party benchmarking analysis and network performance improvement recommendations.

Must have skills:

Core Network Technical Competencies:

• Minimum 5+ years of direct experience working with Tier 1 Service Provider on Backhaul Transport infrastructure and Core Networks
• Demonstrated experience with Optical Transport Networks, Core and Access backhaul, Metro and long-haul optical transport solutions
• Strong knowledge and experience with architecture and standards for:
  • Optical Transport Network with D/CWDM Muxing, OTN (DWDM/SONET/SDH), RAMAN, WSS Switching
  • Coherent optical solutions
  • Microwave with point to point, point to multi-point transport network
  • Centralized EMS/NMS for DWDM/SDH multiplexing
• Understanding of Core IP networking: OSPF/ISIS, BGP/MPBGP, MPLS, Multicast, IPv6
• Direct work experience deploying optical transport network solutions with Ciena, Nokia, Ericsson

What you bring:

• Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline preferred.
• 5-10 years experience with a Tier 1 Telecom Service Provider
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Good blend of skills and passion for both technical and business/financial fields
• Team player, initiative and accountability
