Network Operations Center (NOC) – Data Analyst (Must be flexible; overnight hours required)

Job Description: The primary duties include: Tier 1 & 2 level system applications and systems monitoring, Tier 1 & 2 support for Data Integration Services’ processing systems. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, troubleshooting, researching and resolving defects, and executing other analysis tasks as assigned This position will also be responsible for clearly documenting production issues, resolutions and operational guidelines in support of production support operations functions

Essential Functions:

• Monitor and troubleshoot ETL processing system exceptions across the Development, QA, and Production environments. Researches, correct, escalate ETL processes through completion. 50 – 70 %
• Analyze, develop and document requirements to existing systems and workflows with the goal of improving results, reducing production processing problems, and improving production monitoring capability. 10 – 20 %
• Execute analysis tasks as assigned. This includes, but is not limited to, researching and resolving defects as assigned. Support accuracy and currency of knowledge base system in support of production operations. 10 – 20 %
• Develop and document processes and procedures relating to Tier 1 or 2 support functions utilizing a knowledge based system. 10 %

Other Functions:

• Work closely with other NOC, IM, DBAs, and other support teams to ensure timely issue resolution and status communication to all affected areas
• Use defect tracking application to log and track defects and maintain currency of information.
• Provide clear communication to Management in written and/or verbal form in a timely manner when Production issues arise. Generally involves some data analysis and write-up with summary of findings.

Minimum Job Requirements Education: B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics (with a concentration in programming).

Required Years of Experience: 2 – 5 years.

Software/Systems Skills:

• Must be skilled in SQL Server and SQL query language. Must be able to read and understand stored procedures in order to troubleshoot issues that arise from failed stored procedures. Should have knowledge in troubleshooting performance issues. Knowledge of Informatica is desirable. Experience with ETL and batch processing systems in both a development and support role is critical

Additional information:

• This person will be interacting with technical support staff on the team as well as the development staff. This person will be interacting with Management Vendors, and Carriers and may have contact with Sr. Management on occasion. Interaction with cross-functional development teams is likely. Must be able to troubleshoot problems, coordinate teams and provide clear status communications. This person should be flexible as overtime outside of the normal shift may be required on occasion.
• Must be able to work in a 24-7 (weekend and/or shift rotation schedule), multi-system, multi-platform environment and use the tools available to maintain system performance and recommend changes where needed

Soft Skills required for the position:

• Must be able to communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, to other Sr. Developers as well as Management level personnel.
• Must possess ability to diagnose and resolve systems issues in a timely manner. This person should also have good judgment in understanding when, under given guidelines, a solution to an issue falls outside the bounds of normal protocol and should be escalated.
• Must be able to transpose written descriptions and whiteboard diagrams into executable processes.
