NOC Tools Engineer

A New Jersey-based services organization is actively seeking an experienced IT professional to join their staff as a NOC Tools Engineer. In this role, the NOC Tools Engineer will be responsible for performing installation, configuration, customization, and training for SolarWinds.

***This position is a hybrid role requiring the qualified professional to work onsite at least 3 days a week.***

Responsibilities:

The NOC Tools Engineer will be responsible for:

• Managing Cisco, Avaya, Aruba, and Extreme Hardware comprised of various Operating Systems monitored in SolarWinds
• Conducting new product research in network tools engineering team related to capacity, performance, fault and/or configuration management.
• Ensuring that current and new tools cover all environments.
• Handling tools escalations
• Participating in the configuration management process, which entails: reviewing & approving baseline configuration changes; maintaining & developing new configuration compliance validations; ensuring 100% device configuration validation coverage; and, auditing all Network Configuration Items to insure adherence to configuration compliance validation requirements
• Analyzing and report network alerts generated by the monitoring tools
• Opening / escalating tickets as per defined severities and a sense of urgency, as needed
• Acting as second line of contact for all Trouble Ticket issues in the NOC
• Interfacing with Carriers, Open tickets track to resolution
• Performing other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

• Strong Knowledge in the areas of Fault Monitoring, Capacity Management, Configuration Management, and Performance Management within the Network Infrastructure area
• General Network Engineering experience
• Experience with SNMP, Syslog, SSH, TACACS
• Experience with Extreme Networks
• Knowledge on the Change Management process
• Great interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong attention to detail
• Highly organized

Desired Skills:

• Experience with RTTS, XMC, SolarWinds, Footprints, and ServiceNow
• Experience with Dynatrace
• Cisco and Avaya experience
• Experience with Integration with ServiceNow and other toolsets
