Job Summary Comcast Advanced Advertising is hiring an Operations Engineer based in our New York office. This candidate will help administer the Global Network Operations Center (NOC) which monitors our mission critical line-of-business applications. Specifically, this candidate will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and acting as Point of Communication for our real time Production alerts, all while upholding our commitment to a high Service Level Objective (99.99% uptime). Aside from the technical aspect, we are looking for someone who can contribute to the overall success of the NOC team. Responsible for monitoring, and continuously improving FreeWheel a Comcast Company’s Advertising Technology systems and services as well as associated infrastructure in a 7/24 environment. Examples of infrastructure include, but are not limited to: applications, servers, databases, etc. Position focuses on monitoring systems, automation, and service focused instrumentation. Provides subject matter expertise, resolves complex break/fix scenarios, engaging broader teams as necessary; partners with/leads engineering, vendors, and clients to achieve continuous improvement. Contributes to command and control-related activities focused on restoration of complex outages, communication across Comcast and clients and rapid restoration. Works and directly leads, internal FreeWheel teams, external vendors, third parties and associated agencies, when necessary, to address issues. Works with limited supervision and direction while executing associated functions and responsibilities. Follows operational practices and independently determines/develops approaches for non-routine solutions. Receives general direction in areas of focus. Serves as team lead on projects.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

Ability to troubleshoot and repair all but the most complex issues. Performs maintenance activities with a minimum of supervision and guidance. Leads technical outage bridges and engages appropriate resources to drive issues to closure.

Acts as an advocate for Engineering Operations procedures, policies , and processes. Ensures projects and initiatives are adhering to Company standards.

Tracks and reports operational workflows; maintains records of results and feedback. Analyzes data and metrics, identifies problem areas and provides actionable insight.

Acts as a technical resource in projects and initiatives and ensures successful project implementation.

Contributes to design considerations for new products or architectural changes to existing products.

Analyses problems in design, configuration, data flow and data state within a highly complex multi-product provisioning system.

Performs routine maintenance tests for designated areas of engineering and ensures all maintenance is properly validated to minimize impact.

Provides training and guidance to less experienced team members.

Attains industry standard certifications and education.

Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

Regular, consisten t, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

Additional Responsibilit ies

Performs a variety of complex analytical duties in the planning, deployment, testing and evaluation of FreeWheel a Comcast Company’s, products and services including in house and client premise equipment.

Works closely with engineering and vendors to identify and drive improvements across the topology.

Serve as the hub of communication for escalations and live or high-profile events.

Troubleshoot issues and alerts, escalate when necessary.

Track issues and drive to resolution.

Hand-off report to next shift (Beijing NOC).

Work with a globally distributed Operations team.

Develops, produces and reviews of documentation, instructional and procedural manuals for other employees to utilize to resolve problems or make network improvements. Examples include complex processes for acceptance of new products.

Supports all the NOC tools and alarms; analyzes systems needs and determines prioritization of break/fix scenarios; implements code changes and suggests improvements. Ensures the availability of networking services; studies, evaluates, analyzes , and monitors the network and services to determine problem areas and/or areas of concern. Monitors, isolates, triages , and resolves outages and impairments. Identifies and implements opportunities for improvement.

Ensures databases, applications, hardware , and other related resources are properly maintained. Provides subject matter expertise on equipment and services to other operational groups. Updates code and software to ensure proper system performance.

Provides clear, crisp , and concise technical communication and coordination during outage scenarios.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree

While possessing the stated degree is preferred, Comcast also may consider applicants who hold some combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience.

Relevant Work Experience

Salary:
Pay Range: $76,826.71 – $115,240.06

Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
