Optical Polishing Technician (Entry Level)

BMV Optical Technologies is a manufacturer of high precision optical systems and components. Sectors served include Telecom, Military, Medical, Research & Development and Industrial Applications.

BMV is currently seeking a bright, conscientious individual for an entry level position within our polishing department. Under the supervision of our senior polishing technicians, the trainee will polish optical glass and other materials to accuracies measured in wavelengths of light. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate optical manufacturing equipment to polish optical grade substrates to a high standard using conventional methods.

• Hand polish optical substrates to very high optical quality

• Work with specialized equipment and precision hand tools

• Clean and inspect optical grade substrates for surface polish quality, identify surface defects and ensure thickness of lenses

• Accurately follow all manufacturing procedures according to verbal and written instructions.

• Effectively follow instructions and work with blueprints

• Effectively use high tolerance measuring instruments

Education or Experience Required:

• Minimum equivalent to Ontario Grade 12 education or minimum three (3) years on the job training with a recognized optical manufacturer
